I'm getting scared that it's going to be a mad house during this week. I recently tried to get P.S. for chef mickeys, and 1900 park fare. There was no available times for 1900, and for mickeys I can only get P.S. after 9pm. How bad do you think it's going to be. Did I pick a bad time of the year?

I don't think it's going to be that bad. I'm going from the 15th-22nd. It appears that the Disney hotels are really booked up, but all the surrounding hotels seem to be empty.

I think that you are going to see more people in the resort restarants and activities (pool, boats, etc.) than in the parks.

So far there have not been any reports from anyone about the parks being overcrowded.

You're also trying to book popular places 2-3 weeks out, so they just may be booked up.

I have a friend who works at Dixie (POR) and she said that POR is at capacity for the entire month of October. The CMs have been put on a mandatory 6 day a week schedule. We are there from Oct. 23-Nov. 1. October gets busier every year, esp. during food and wine, MNSSHP, and now with the FTP, the resorts are packed. I know many folks who are trying to get on property during the second half of October, but can't get anything for their entire stay. I was hoping to pay for an upgrade from my standard room to a king room at POR, but don't think that will happen. We were there in July for 11 days, and in September for 7 days, and the crowds have been extremely heavy, esp. since the FTP was so successful for them.

This post also reminded me to get started on those PS arrangements. Luckily for us there are no character meals in our future this trip. So hopefully I can make some plans to dine at our favorite places. Others should also be warned to make a few PS, especially if the resorts are full.

Keep in mind there is a very large technology convention at WDW from 10/19-10/24. Attendees are taking up large blocks at the Epcot resorts, plus several others. This will an affect on hotel availability and PS's but should not affect park attendance since attendees will be in meetings all day.

Forgot, also the big golf tournament too, with Tiger Woods.

With press events, conventions, halloween parties, and the golf tourney, October is not as *off* as it once was. I would not worry about crowds, however. Chef Mickey's and 1900 are difficult to get PS for with short notice. If you're really hot to do a character meal, try for breakfast at Cape May Cafe or lunch/dinner at Garden Grill (those are usually very easy to book).
Relax and have fun.

We'll be there on those dates too. Chef Mickey's is very hard to get on short notice. I had trouble getting a PS in Nov. of 2001 when no one was traveling. Keep trying, people always cancel.

Disney could be at capacity or close to it....the golf classic, the start of the food/wine fest that week and the halloween parties.

We have went during that week before and the crowds, lines were summer like.

Have fun and use fastpass!

I think Chef Mickey's has really risen in popularity. 2 years ago, we had no problems getting in for b/fast & dinner w/in a couple of days. This year, we couldn't get dinner (didn't try b/fast), completely booked.

Could you tell me what those 2 abreviations stand for? Thanks!

It was a package offered in the early summer. You had to book by the end of June, and travel before the christmas season.

FTP is the Fairy Tale Package.......

You'd get 7 nights lodging for the price of 4 nights, plus UPHs (unlimited park hopper passes) for the duration of your stay.

It was a really good deal for those who didn't already have tickets.

I hope that this helps..........
