Hi Joanne and Roger! Here is a :welcome: for you from Germany! Whereabouts in Germany will your son be working? If you are going to visit him at Christmas, I can teach you some German phrases on the ship to get in the spirit for that visit :)

Annichan - I am embarrassed to say tha tI have teh equivalent of a minor in German, but it's been so long that Wie geht's is about the extent of what I remember. :sad2: If my dream of ever getting there comes around, though, maybe you can help get me back in shape. ;)

Trying ot catch up here, now that marathon time is over. WISh boards are my main hangout. Looking forward to getting to know all of you better!

Hi!

He is going to Ramstein. he was actually born there. We were stationed at Sembach from 86-90. Sad to say we only picked up a little german. "Ein beer bitte" I would love to learn some more. Where do you live? We loved it there. we are planning to go at Christmas. I love the Christmas markets and are hoping to do some skiiing in Garmish.

I don't know if I ever told you but I was also stationed in Germany from 1963 to 1965. 20 clicks outside of Wertzburge a little town call Kitzigan.
It was an old German Panzer barracks during WW2. It was no top of a big hill in town. Also I spent many weekends in Garnmish.

Oh don't be embarrassed about it, I know that German grammar is ridiculously difficult compared to many other major languages! And I'm no better, anyway: Quite a while ago, I learned Japanese for almost two years, and no I can barely say anything except "Hi, my name is XY, pleased to meet you" ;)

Anyway, we'll be glad to get your German up in shape on the cruise if you like! :) (Refer to my following post for a very important first lesson)

Oh I see, I didn't understand at first that you were in the military! I think all the military bases are rather far south from were I live (almost on the North Sea!) and I must admit I'never never really been to Southern Germany, except for Munich.

"Ein beer bitte" is a great bit of knowledge of German, by the way! It will get you a long way :thumbsup2

And the good thing is, quite a few words in German sound or look very much like they do in English, so once you know that "ein beer bitte" means "one beer please", it's easy to figure out other important phrases such as
"ein schnaps bitte"
"ein glas wein bitte" or, if you like it non-alcoholic,
"ein glas wasser bitte"
"ein kaffee bitte".

See? Sometimes it can be an easy-to-learn language after all :)

Wow, looks like you all do a lot more skiing in Garmisch than I do!! :worship:
(easy to accomplish though as I'm such a horrible skier)

Goslings where are you????

I am here and will be on more often. This is going to be a great cruise. We are also staying at the Radisson. Megan will have to fly down on Sat but Jose will be with us. She can not get off on the Friday.

Thats great. Nancy and I were wondering if we should make resivations at the Raddison soon ? From what I can see Leisha theres going to be quit a few of us staying there.

I am going to make our reservations this weekend. It will be us and mom and Jim. They are so excited about the cruise. I hope we can be down there earlier this time so we can go to dinner. We are going to leave on Thursday afternoon and drive to Atlanta and the drive the rest of the way on Friday.

Well we are booked. A little more expensive than I wanted. All cat 6-12 are full. I am hoping for some cancellations before then. We are in a cat 5 GTY. We won't even have a room number for a while. I am really suprpised it's so full for October.

have a great day all.

If everything works out Joanne and Roger will pick us up Friday morning at the World then we will drive to the Raddison. If we do what we did last year we will stop a Down Town Disney and have wwhat the girls want. This picture says it all

Too funny, your english is great by the way. I took a conversational German class from the USO when we first got there. But Europeans make it very easy most speak English. We always had our menu master with us so at least we knew what we were eating, and boy do we love german food, beer & wine!!
