Wow, I can't believe how many pages of conversation I have missed by not being around for a few days !!

I'm still a bit reluctant to join in the whole FE and lanyard business, as this will be such an enormous and expensive vacation for us, we haven't even got the flights and our bosses' assurance that we will be allowed to have three weeks off work, so sorry if I don't say much these days. Come October we will be able to look at flights, and in January we can talk to our bosses abut time off work, so once 2010 has come around I will spring to life and be all about the cruise, I promise!

Just my two cents about some of the topics that have been discussed recently:

Concerning the lanyards: I absolutely love the idea of the lanyards, I have seen them in other people's trip reports and been real jealous . I would also volunteer to contribute - as long as you don't mind if I hand you the cash at the beginning of the cruise or pay by credit card, since I don't really see any other way of getting money in US currency to any of you.

And the cruise name: I quite like "Bring Back The Magic", and as you can see I have already incorporated it in my countdown ticker . So I wouldn't need a new name.
However, when I first came upon this thread, and the cruise name, and so on, I must admit that it did seem a bit weird because it was all about "Jimmy Buffet" and "Parrotheads" all the time, I didn't understand a bit of it and had to look him up on Wikipedia, so I admit I felt a bit like I had been crashing the party of the local branch of the fanclub without being invited . ... But that being said, I really like the name now, regardless of whether I have ever heard the Jimmy Buffet song or not.

Regarding the laynards and this is just an idea, What about using a quote by Walt Disney on them instead of our group name. That way you could use them on other cruises or when you visit the parks. If you do a search there are tons of great quotes out their by Walt Disney.

As for the name of our group I am not a parrothead, never even heard the song for that matter but I do personally like the name "Bring Back The Magic". I do think that if we are going to vote on a new name we need to do it soon, and that is for my own selfish reasons becaues I have already started working on my FE gifts and need to know the name of our group. My suggestion is we start a post for people to submit their ideas for a name and leave that open for about a week, then we set up a poll with all the names and let everyone vote, again I would leave it up for about a week. I say a week because although we have about 40 families signed up for the cruise we only have a handful of regular posters on the board. I think however that if your not a regular you at least log on weekly to catch up on things. So on that note I vote we get this going asap, do I hear a second LOL.

Lynn-congrats on the low-budget IKEA makeover! Sometimes all you need is the inspiration and willingness to try it on your own. Show us pictures if you get a chance.

I have a FE question but don't want to spoil a possible surprise. How would I know if something is appropriate or not? I guess if my gift is something someone couldn't use, they could give it away.

I just spent about 3 hours working on making a day bay bed for my DD.

We went to the IKEA store last night and she saw a bedroom set for over $1000 that she would have loved to have..........

Well i just made the look alike bed and redid a tv cabinet we had to make a look alike for for under $150

And that included shelves for her walls and a long mirror for her walls,and some other little things that were in the room at IKEA.

Have to finish tomorrow!

I've been gone for a day or two and found there is some possible name changing in the works for our cruise. DW and I like Jimmy Buffet and his songs. Haven't been to any of his concerts though. We do have a couple of his CD's, and I have to admit I don't know which song, "Bring Back The Magic" is from. But after talking to DW we have to say our vote goes to "Bring Back The Magic." But, we are open to any and all suggestions for a different name. Like everyone we will go along with the majority and if a name change occurs we will adopt it as our own. We will gladly take part in a poll for the name of our cruise. I know alot of our fellow cruisers have some great ideas for names. So, I guess, let the voting begin!!

Just wondering if everyone has checked out the new look for the Disney Cruise Line website. They have really changed it alot and it looks great!!! They did a wonderful job on it.............I'm impressed!!!

Hey Lynn you don't have to make a new thread for the names (well...unless you want to) you can just add a poll to this one and you can put each name in the poll.

Of course...don't ask me how to do that. All I know is you have to be the OP (which you are)...it is probably if you edit the first post and under advanced.

So to help keep track so far we have the original "Bring Back the Magic"

We also have "Bring the Magic Back"

and "Bring the Magic Back to the Caribbean"

(so far if I am correct).

I think just adding a poll here would be the easiest way to keep it contained to just us and not lose it amongst the other meet chatter.

We FINALLY have both laptops back up and running! So nice! (LOL for us, it might drive ya'll nuts when both of us are on at the same time)
I also got my ipod touch replaced this weekend (under the Mfr. warranty), my touch screen and power button had stopped working (after 3 mos!) so it is nice to have my own one of those back and not have to share!


MMMM I *heart* Ikea! Our store just opened recently and i actually haven't made it in yet but I am trying to talk Ron into taking me there to get a new DVD/media storage cabinet (which we need badly!)



Lanyards team will need a coordinator. Remember whoever orders/recieves/assembles them will have to create and print all the nametags and that is no small feat. (Will have a small cost too for paper/card stock and ink..not sure if that is something you can use Vista Print for since all of the tags will have different names and usernames on them. ) Just something I thought I'd point out. Our last lanyard coordinator said it was a whole lot of work to get them put together We'll have to decide how we want to do it, too, did we want to go the volunteer contributor route or pay-for-your-own. I guess we still have a lot of time, though!

I know on our last cruise the money was sent by Pay Pal to the LANYARD coordinator and that would work really well for the folks overseas! (Annichan!) It is free to send money and you can use a credit card or straight from your bank account.

I haven't been on the DCL website yet but I just may have to check it out!

About the FE gifts, I'd say just about anything is appropriate, LOL! We kept everything but yeah I would just say anyone who gets something they don't want could just go drop it in someone else's FE! One person gave little drawstring bags as a FE gift for everyone to bring home their FE gifts in (of course we still filled that and both Castaway Club bags PLUS a Disney plastic bag...there was a LOT of great stuff! ) I thought that was a great gift idea!!

for the printing part, I think if everyone was sent the image via email, couldn't they print their own? or if someone wants to take charge of that that is fine too
