Hi everybody,

I am still so busy trying to read this whole thread from page 1 to 143 that I didn't even notice all your nice replies until now! :rolleyes1

:confused3
Hum . . .bzzelady might have given up the cabin :confused3 because you now have it booked :yay: I will change the roll call to reflect the change.
We'll probably be doing the stateroom switcharoo until we sail away!:3dglasses

Thanks for adding us to the roll call! Yes, I finally can believe that we really have secured 6134, as it keeps saying so when I log onto disneycruise.com so it's got to be true :rotfl2:

Welcome aboard!!! glad you are joining us!! :yay:
you will just love being on the ship..it's so relaxing!!

Thank you! I can't wait - what am I going to do to make all these long months pass quicker ...?

WOW
A SECRET VERANDAH ROOM!!!!!
THAT IS JUST FREAKIN CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:
And i thought i was LUCKY to get one!!!
WOW one open this late in the game and a dissers gets again!!!!!!

It had me mightily confused, too - after I found this thread and read that someone else had it. Before that, I just supposed it must be normal for the "secret" rooms to go so late :confused3:)

First things first................ I want to extend a warm welcome to Annichan and her DH. We are all glad you have decided to join us. :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::yay:

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! :flower3:

LOL, as long as you aren't actually in 6634! ;):lmao:
(that's ours!)
Anyhoo, :welcome: annichan, our across the boat neighbors! :goodvibes

Hello "neighbours"! :yay:
No, I am pretty sure now that I have really got 6134, when I was confused at first I stared at that room number on the screen long enough to give me an eye-ache, then I called in DH and asked him to read to me which number was on the screen, just to be sure. He thought I was pulling his leg :lmao:

OMG, I just realize this last post has made me a mouseketeer! I've earned my ears

Sorry for stupid post, just wanting to share my silly excitement :)

Just wanted to pop in to say hi ya'll. HI YA"LL!!!:cool1::thumbsup2;)
Also noticed on my count down ticker thingy, do hinkey, thing-a-mabob, whatever it's called as of tomorrow June 3, 2009 we have only..............wait for it.......................500 DAYS TO GO!!! Is everybody happy!!!!! Just around the corner is 400 days to go, then it will be just 300 days to go...............but you get the picture!!!!
Well better get my behind back to work. Ugly ol' boss man is giving me a funny look. Last time he looked at me like that he slapped me on the back and told me what a good job I was doing. Then he told me he was going on vacation the next day and I would have to work 10 to 12 hour days and keep the troops in line while he was gone. He's a sick man I tell you......a sick man.
:sick::sick:

Jen has finally updated the trip report!!! :cool1: Check it out. The link is on the signature of her posts. She's Nenner1 in case you didn't know.

Now that I've found this thread, I've got a few questions that are really stupid beginners' questions, probably :confused3. But maybe you can give me some information? I know it's still ages to go until the cruise, but it's never too early to start planning (although DH might tell you differently :lmao:):

:) This being the first cruise after dry dock: Does that worry you at all? I read elsewhere that first cruises after dry dock often have unfinished work going on, stuff not working ...

:) Can any of you recommend one of the Mayan ruins excursions in Cozumel?

:) As our cruise is only two to one weeks before Halloween: Will there be any Halloween parties or decorations? Or do they save that for the proper Halloween evening?

:) Since we are flying in from Europe and will be staying in the States for almost three weeks, we will not be able to pack so many different sets of clothing. From your point of view, what is more important: the right outfit for Formal Night or for Pirate Night?

Thanks everybody, and have a great day! :cheer2:

500 DAYS TO GO
I hope that woke everyone up this morning!!!
Annichan, I'll try to answer what questions I can of your concerns. As far as the dry dock question, no this doesn't concern me any. We will also be the first cruise for the Magic after returning from the Med. cruises. And, I;m sure she, The Magic, will need some sprucing up from that ordeal.
As far as the Mayan ruins, DW, DGD and I were looking at those this past week-end ourselves. The one excursion is a 45 minute, one way, boat ride then a 1 hour and 10 minute bus ride to see Mayan ruins. We thought this was an awful long time to get to these ruins. We are going to see the ruins there on Cozumel.
We took the Halloween Cruise on the Wonder last year, 2008. From what I can remember all of the activities were just going on the week of Halloween. I could be wrong, and Disney may have changed their policy too. I know we took an Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Magic in 2007 the week of October 13th thru the 20th and there were no Halloween activities.
As for the clothing situation. I guess that is up to you. I rented a Tux for me for formal night. It was delivered to us in our cabin after we boarded and I had to turn it in to oue cabin steward before in got off the ship, so no packing for me. But, DW had to pack a formal dress. Some people were not dressed up all that much for formal night. But DW and I are old school I guess, and the word formal to us means looking your best.
We didn't dress all up for Pirates night. We brought along some T-shirts and we wore the bandana's on our heads we got at our dinner sitting. (We have the early dinner sitting, and our server was more then happy to help us put our Pirate bandana's on our heads. We still had a great time on Pirates night. But some people really go way out a really dress up for Pirates night. And I must say they really looked GREAT!!!
I hope this helps. If anyone else has some ideas they can pass on to Annichan please help out here.
Well I have to start working.:scared1::sad2: I mean :woohoo::yay::cool1:
Talk you ya'll later.

The post drydock thing seems to be a hot topic... We were on the first 7 night cruise of the magic following it's most recent drydock in September 2008. Check out posts 1771-1772. They're on page 119 of this thread. :thumbsup2 Jen's trip report covers it a bit as well.

Lynn,
The post drydock issue will most likely be a concern of alot of newbies. Would you mind mentioning Jen and mine's .02 worth from post 1771-1772 on the 1st post? Thanks! :goodvibes

No such thing as too early to plan, IMO! :)

:) This being the first cruise after dry dock: Does that worry you at all? I read elsewhere that first cruises after dry dock often have unfinished work going on, stuff not working ...
I'll briefly recap so you don't have to go back but we were on the "second" cruise back after the last dry dock (Sept. 2008)..it was supposed to be the first cruise after dry dock but they "finished" early and decided to schedule a special 3-night cruise right before ours. The reports from that cruise were that cosmetic work was going on non-stop, painting, ripping up carpets (one of the owners of this site was on that cruise and his family got TRAPPED in their stateroom when the carpet outside was ripped up outside their door and they were not told; when they went to leave the room the workers told them they needed to go back inside for a little while!) Also there was a thread going on during that cruise where people on it posted pictures of all three pools, brown, disgusting, and closed for almost the entire cruise! I think that thread got heated and was deleted becuase I have searched for it and cannot find it. You can listen to the Dis partners/podcast hosts talk about that 3-night post drydock cruise on the October 1, 2008 Dis Unplugged podcast .
Now, to get away from what we heard and focus on what we experienced...Yes we had some major issues. Our room was actually changed due to "maintenance" not completed on the dry dock. No, we were not upgraded, in fact it was a huge inconvenience becuase our room was moved 50 feet down the hall from our kids' (age 7 & 9) room. We were very upset at that, but we ended up making it work. Also the Mickey pool was closed the first day and a half. Those were the real major issues we had, and while unfortunate they obviously did not persuade us to reconsider cruising after dry dock. There are many poisitves too, the ship's common areas were just sparkling clean and gorgeous! The crew and staff were just great!
So bottom line I would say prepare yourself for the possibilities but don't worry about it too much. We aren't! :thumbsup2

:) Can any of you recommend one of the Mayan ruins excursions in Cozumel?
I hear the riuns on the mainland are good but of course, as davidls mentioned that is a long trip. We did not go to the San Gervasio ruins in Cozumel last year so I cannot offer a personal opinion, however from those of my cruisemates whjo did go there, they said the ruins there were very "small", so I guess there are not huge pyramids there or anything. :confused3

:) As our cruise is only two to one weeks before Halloween: Will there be any Halloween parties or decorations? Or do they save that for the proper Halloween evening?
We love to cruise at this time of year and have been on thie ship as late as 10/7 and have not seen any Halloween decorations. I do know they put some up but I am not sure when they do it. This cruise may be late enough to catch them....maybe one of the Parrothead Pirates from the same time last year know the answer to this..?

:) Since we are flying in from Europe and will be staying in the States for almost three weeks, we will not be able to pack so many different sets of clothing. From your point of view, what is more important: the right outfit for Formal Night or for Pirate Night?
Well...that is presonal preference, but IMO Formal night. Keep in mind that there is semi-formal night also (well and Palo too if you do not end up eating there on either of those two nights) so you could kill two (or three) birds with one stone by bringing one formal outfit. Pirate night really is mostly just a night to dress casually. T shirts & shorts. You could bring little costume pieces (eye patches, etc.) to enhance your pirate look if you want to, plus you get bandannas provided to you onboard! Just an idea.... :)

Thanks everybody, and have a great day! :cheer2:

You're very welcome! Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Worried...:confused3 we are on a disney cruise

:) Can any of you recommend one of the Mayan ruins excursions in Cozumel?
Sorry no

:) As our cruise is only two to one weeks before Halloween: Will there be any Halloween parties or decorations? Or do they save that for the proper Halloween evening?
No there wil not be, did a halloween cruise and decor did not go up until night before very late in evening....Funnt story I forgot what time the kids club closed and DD helped decorate when all other kids were gone ooops

:) Since we are flying in from Europe and will be staying in the States for almost three weeks, we will not be able to pack so many different sets of clothing. From your point of view, what is more important: the right outfit for Formal Night or for Pirate Night?

Thanks everybody, and have a great day! :cheer2:

As for the clothes...
Most important, FORMAL NIGHT.....
But you can always do something for pirate night, we have done less and less each time.
I think this time around we will just have matching pirate tshirts.
But you could do just head scraves or eye patch or skull jewelry.
They will also give out bandanas at dinner.

Thank you everybody for your helpful answers! :flower3:

I guess we will pack one formal outfit for formal/semiformal night/Palo then and just a couple of matching pirate T-shirts for Pirate Night.
I don't think I will get DH to rent a tux, though, and I wouldn't have the right dress to go along with it anyway, as we are not that formal people ...
But a suit and a dress will be possible - easy for DH as he wears suits to work almost all the time. I guess I'll have to go dress buying, though - the only two dresses I own are my white wedding gown, and my floor-length red wedding dress that I have worn for the registry office ceremony and following party (and for two weddings of friends, since). I wouldn't want to risk either of them on a flight where I might lose my luggage :scared1:

So I guess I had better go shopping ;)

I already bought my stuff, i know...who's planning early, but iknew wjat i wantd and it happen to be on sale at Fashion Bug this spring so i bought 2.

THey are just basic sundresses but floor length. I love the floor length sundress, cuz then i can wer flip flops.

I have another one too that i have worn on 2 previous cruises, once for semi formal night and once for palo.

So i see a pattern forming here Sundress and flip flops. I have to hem my sundresses that i just bogh and maybe add some bling to them.

WE leave tomorrow for our VACATION!!!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!!!

WE leave tomorrow for our VACATION!!!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!!!

Wow, lucky you! Have a great vacation!

Meanwhile, I will spend the weekend finally catching up with this whole thread ... I don't have far to go, I'm already on page 122!

Wishing everyone a great weekend ...

Hi, it's me again, sorry for being so chatty at the moment :):

I just had a look at disneycruise.com and found that since sometime last week, the cruise prices have been raised by roughly 200 dollars! :scared1:
(I looked both at our cruise and at the "surrounding" ones in October/November, categories 6 and 7).

I can't say how glad I am that we booked as early as we did, and didn't decide to wait for another couple of weeks!:banana::banana:

So, back to reading up on the whole thread now - approaching page 125 :surfweb: ...

How is everyone today?

Well, another Friday is upon us, so that means we have . . .

Wow, thank you Deb  - the first time I am present here when a new friday countdown is announced! Woohoo! :woohoo:

Just a happy little something I'd like to share with y'all :):
Upon coming home from work today, I found the books in my mailbox that I had ordered a while ago in the States - the Passporter to DCL, and the Unofficial Guide to Cruises!!!
Yay, now I can spend the weekend curled up in my comfy chair in the garden reading up on all the cruise info, and stop being such a horrible newbie! :rotfl:

I think that I will buy the Passporter again next year so that I have the fully up-to-date edition ... But then, I intend to buy a refill for the Deluxe that I bought for our recent WDW honeymoon, and put it in there. This year I only bought the regular edition to get me started :).
