Oct 13, 2012 Fantasy who's going

I was on a room service thread and they had a few things you could get via room service even though not on the menu. Thought I would share it with you all.

Also, here's a more current room service menu from the Dream...

I get info from you all the time to share with my cruisers so I thought I would pay a little back. :surfweb:

I thought it was interesting that you could get grilled cheese sandwiches. :thumbsup2 We have a couple of parents with younger children and sometimes, they are a bit picky in eating habbits.

That is all, carry on. :woohoo:

Thanks for sharing that is great info! I had heard that you could order Mickey bars through room service and we were looking forward to that. I didn't know the extent of the menu though and I may just be ordering all of my lunches through room service -including excursion days! popcorn::

It was also said that you could order a burger and fries at breakfast. Not really my thing, but my teen is very excited about that prospect!

Susan - it's good to hear from you again. The lady I bought them from thought she would have a hard time selling them. She was amazed that I took her up on buying them. I am cataloging them right now (see the sample below). There were a few Walt Disney albums (plus they made a mistake thinking one was a LP -when they were actucally 4 CD's.
Thanks for the room service tips. You are a great lady.

This is a great retirement project.

My son said that is VERY cool. His most cherished album so far is the Beatles white album. (I guess it is non titled, just a white album). He also has a lot of broadway albums and a cerarmic album as well... some type of disco. No where near the amount you have. He just got a portable record player a year or so ago.

For breakfast & lunch I enjoy going to the buffet & then going and sitting out on the deck to eat. Sometimes for lunch ( if not on an excursion ) there are other places on the decks to get something to eat.

I havn't got a cherished one yet - too many to go thru to make that decision. The original owner was a roller skating coach. A lot of the music was used for skating routines. He was a great coach for many decades. He died a few years ago & at first his wife didn't want to part with them. I just happened to ask at an appropriate time.. I guess enough time had passed for her to let go of them.

There are a lot of musicals, movie themes, concerts, disco & a few popular singer hits.

I would love to hear the "TRON" album done by the London Philharmonic. I bet it is very cool. I wonder if I could find it as an MP3? When you put together a routine with the music do you convert it to tape or CD? I don't imagine that you give them a record to play do you? just curious.

back in the beginning they used tape, now when they do it they use a cd. A lot of these records are from the 70's to the 90's. I just found some disco music.

I do plan on putting some of these records on cd's.

I just think having the collection is a blast. And, I totally believe it's worth a lot more than I paid for it.

I just found the TRON by the London Philharmonic MP3 on amazon. I can totally see that as skating music. I'm glad that you got a deal on these, they were definitely meant for you.

That stuff was so neat! I didn't know any of that stuff except for one. Did you know all of that? I feel like a little less of a fan than what I thought I was. I need to read up on my Disney trivia!

I know some of the things - those tiles in the castle - they are also on the Dream, 2 walls 25ft in length. I've seen the lighted path in Epcot. I love watching the shrubbery come alive. It is fascinating to watch. I've seen the plane.

There is a book out by Steve Barrett called a field guide to WDW best kept secrets. I met him at a Disney meet-up. Nice man. The rest I am going to have to check out. It will give me something to do next few times I go there.

Everything is good. Very ambitious you are - making door magnets. That would be a good FE idea. Let us know how the carnival cruise is.

A little example of what’s available in technology today!!!

Face Recognition in a Crowd.

Put your cursor anywhere in the crowd and double-click a couple of time and then use the scroll button in the centre of your mouse.

You can zero in on one single face. The clarity is unbelievable.

This is the photo taken by Port Moody photographer Ronnie Miranda that appeared
in Tri-City News last Friday (24-June).

This is actually impressive. You can see - perfectly - the faces of every single individual
- and there were thousands!

My husband got deployed and I am ready to loose with my kids so I am checking in since this as close to my happy place as I can get right now! I also have a question...How worried does one need to be about hurricanes in October? I guess all the coverage about Irene has me wondering. What does DCL do in the event of a hurricane?

Hang in there. Watch a Disney cruise video. I so wish that our cruise was THIS October!

I usually buy vacation insurance for cruises just for that reason. If a hurricane is coming the ships usually will go/stay somewhere to avoid it. This can mean that if you are on the ship that you have to stay on the ship until it can safely come back. (wouldn't that be great!) but if you are on the following cruise it can mess things up a bit. Hurricane season is June to November so we are really on the tail end of it. We always travel to WDW and cruises in October and have not had a problem. I wouldn't be to worried about it.

Now that is a question I can answer from experience.
In August of 2004 we were already out to sea when the hurricane hit. We were on a 7 day turned 10 day because of the hurricane.

Since we couldn't get to Port Canavaral they just changed the some of the excursion stops from one place to another wherever they could dock. We also made a fuel stop at Galvaston.

They had plenty of food. Some of the other cruise lines ran out of some foods. Disney did run out of ice cream at the ice cream station.

Port Canavaral was still closed so we pulled in to Miami. We were on the Magic. The Wonder also pulled in there. It was really cool they had a horn competition.

If you were booked thru Disney they provided transportation to the airport to get back to Orlando. If not - well - we saw a lot of people breaking out the phone making arrangements. That was one of the few times WDW closed for a day.

If your cruise hadn't left yet that cruise didn't go out that day.

When you say "booked thru Disney" do you mean booked thru Disney and purchased their travel ins? We are booked thru Disney but rejected their travel ins. We usually purchase our own for less but if you had no out of pocket expenses then it might just be worth it to add it on. I'm just wondering how all of that would play out if we needed it.
