Hi,

We are looking to go "Home" oct09,when do you think Prices and bookings will be open.

Hopefully going Virgin

Thanks.

Will be watching for this also as currently October 2009 is our plan.
Virgin as well although not sure it the limited Glasgow schedule will suit.

thats our worry.

Never did Virgin before but we will see.

Waiting for May 09 and have been told by Virgin telephone staff that prices should be out April - i think that's quite late. In the past i have been able to book at least 18 months in advance, so i don't know what's different this time. Hope this is of some help to you.

We're October 09'ers too, I can't help with date releases but I've come here to try and find out too :thumbsup2

From what i remember last time, Travel City were one of the first to release their dates.....

Hi we booked with TCD last year in March for Oct 08 they were the first to come out think it was beginning /2nd week of march .

Virgin often say one thing, a later date, to put off competition, but if you go on past performance in March they often have an advance brochure out for the following year, with limited hotels, flydrives etc. Often WDW and Villas.

The main brochure is out late April.

I went with Virgin last July(07) and booked it on 6th March 06(booking had been open from 1st March). I'm sure that only a limited number of hotels were available at that time but we were booking a flydrive anyway so that didn't matter.
If they release 2009 as early again this year, you may be able to book up in the next 4 weeks or so.
I'm also booking for 2009 but wasn't very impressed with Virgin last time, we've used them a few times and definitely noticed a drop in standards considering the prices they charge . I'm going to wait on the other scheduled airlines 11 months out and try and get something a bit cheaper. Thinking about Continental via Newark, and maybe a stop over in New York for a couple of days, although the lack of seat back entertainment worries me a little. It's all exciting stuff though:)

Waiting for Oct 09 too, not sure which way to jump this time. The fly drive does seem to come out more expensive than flights at the mo,if you were pricing up for 2008 I mean, though this hasn't always been the case. i might have to hold on for flights to be realeased but its gonna be agony waiting till end of December:sad2: Mind you there is that Boxing Day sale:lmao:

btw Julie, if you were thinking about scheduled, can't say enough good things about United, loved their wonderful service, good seat back entertainment and extremely helpful if you are nervous about transfers like I was, flew via Washington on way out, and via chicago on the way back.

can also vouch for united.we flew to hawaii with them, then on to florida.i was impressed with them & they came in at about £2500 cheaper than virgin.thought the holiday was just going to be a pipe dream, after speaking to virgin, then someone recommended united.the seats were roomy, the seat back entertainment was good & we could not fault the service.
we are flying to san francisco, then back to florida, with them in oct,for what i think is a good price, £2100 for 4 nights S.F,then 10 nights in orlando, for 2 adults 1 child.
give them a go,you maybe surprised, this is during half term as well!!!!
tracy

Thanks for the tip on United, we've flown with them before to the States and thought they were great. Starbucks coffee on board if I remember correctly :) The only problem is that my hubbie is keen to avoid the London transfer if possible. It's not the stop on the way over that he dislikes, it's the waiting in London for a flight back to Glasgow after that transatlantic night flight. If the price is good though, I'll manage to talk him into it:lmao:

I'm keeping an eye on this too as we might try our first family trip next Oct.
