we're going to be staying at POR in March and would like to spend the last couple nights at the ocean. Last time we stayed at Vero Beach and loved it but they are booked solid. I'm thinking since we can't get in there maybe we should try the gulf side this time. Has anyone stayed along the gulf (Fort Myers, Sanibel, St. Petersburg, etc) and if so can you recommend a good resort/hotel. Anything can look good on the internet so I'm leary of picking one without hearing any recommendation from anyone. Thanks!!!

The South Seas Plantation resort on Captiva Island or the Hilton/Radisson/Marriot on Marco Island are all nice resorts.

In May I stayed at the Radisson Lido Beach on the Gulf. Since May the finished the whole new wing. It was very nice. Kitchenettes in each room are great. Pool was beautiful and beach was great!!

Thanks much for your help! I'm going to check out all three of those! We had snowflakes here in St. Paul yesterday so I'm really getting anxious for march already!!!! Thanks again.!

:D We stayed the last two years at the Holiday Inn, St Pete's Beach. It's on the beach and all rooms have water views - because it's round. The revolving restaurant is superb to watch the sunsets at night:D and it's in a great location, near to loads of restaurants, mini golf and Publix.
