Oceaneers lab while off ship?

I was just wondering if you can put your kids in the Oceaneers club and lab while you are off ship doing an excursion? My husband and I thought it might be nice to see some of the sights without the kids (for only about an hour or two), and then bring them to see the ones that are worthwhile. What are your opinions? Thanks.

crissythecropper, it all depends on how you comfortable you are with leaving them onboard. We did leave our kids onboard while exploring Nassau. You just need to let the club know that you will be going on shore.

Does anyone know if the pagers work at all in port? We were debating leaving the kids in the club this time and walking around Nassau a bit. We know a few people that are walking to Senior Frogs. I think I'm comfortable leaving them for 90 minutes or so since we've all been on DCL before, but it would be great if the pager worked.

Also, if the pager does'nt work, would a 2-way radio work? How far apart can you get with those things? Is it ok to leave a 2-way radio with your kids when they're in the club?

I posted just yesterday about leaving the kids in the club while we were in Cozumel, but bad mom that I am....I didn't even think about "well what if they need me?" (Oops!) And of course my biggest fear would be that somehow we wouldn't make it back to the ship and it would sail without us...with our kids on board! Yikes! (Ok, now I'm freaking myself out....)

We may leave the ship for an hour or so without the kids. I don't think I could do an excursion without them as they take much longer than I would feel comfortable about, but we may just explore for an hour or so without them.

We walked around KW with our dd's on our first cruise. We were gone about two hours. They stayed in the lab. We checked back in with them when we boarded the ship. They said, "your back already?".

On our upcoming trip, we will leave them again while touring KW. Possibly leaving them again to venture out in Cozumel. We are taking them with us on a short excursion in GC, but then back to the ship for them. They want to be in the lab as much as possible. I feel comfortable leaving them on the ship.

I really doubt if the beepers work really well while on excursions. I guess I didn't worry about that. I am lucky knowing that my dd's don't mind me leaving them in the labs. They told me they would rather be in the lab then shopping! :earseek:

Do what makes you feel comfortable and by all means, don't let anyone make you feel bad if you do decide to leave them while doing an excursion. Remember you know your child best.
