We embarked on the Wonder on July 18th. Since leaving the ship my 6 yr old ds will not let us remove his wrist band. He claims he will keep it on until we sail again - July of 2006! He obviously had a great time again.

The wrist band is still in pretty good shape although there is no longer any printing on it. Leave it to DCL to find an indestructible wrist band. LOL

How fun Kelli,

Maybe you could make a shadow box or scrapbook of mementos of the trip that would "need" his wristband to be complete?

Guess that takes care of the question from folks who wonder if the wristbands will last the trip.

Do you have to sign up for the club on the first day? How do you register?

You can register your child for the club any day but it's recommended that you sign them up on the first day since they get the wristband that identifies them, their stateroom and their lifeboat station. Ir's fairly easy, you fill out a form with some additional info about your child, are issued a pager and set a security password that you will use when picking up your child.

There will be info on your embarkation sheet giving times the club is open for sign up.

Every kid on board is guaranteed a place in the club/lab at registration--there is no need to rush to register right after you board. Admittedly, the line gets longer as the afternoon goes on, but we've rarely waited more than a few minutes. At registration, you do a short form with cabin number, names of people who can sign kid out, allergies, etc. You get pager and kiddo gets name tag/wrist band.

Registration is totally different than signing kids in and out. Even though your child is registered, if you take her and there are too many kids in the area, they will not allow you to check in until someone else signs out. That's just for safety reasons. You are welcome to wait till someone signs out, or to try back later.

My DD hated the wrist band, and insisted that they make it loose enough so that she could remove it when not in the lab!

I had no idea there could be times when the children would be denied access to the Club or the Lab. I thought that by paying for their cruise, they were QUARANTEED a space--that was one of the reasons we were able to justify the cost of the cruise with the kids when comparing it to other cruise lines!??!! Other cruise lines charge much less for the kids, but you have to pay for nighttime childcare since the clubs are only open during the day. But if the kids won't be allowed in when they want to go, and our cruise is sold out for kids at this point....I just don't know!

Although they CAN deny your child access when the clubs are at capacity, in the 6 months that DD worked in the club, I don't remember her mentioning any time when that actually happened. Not saying it didn't OCCASIONALLY, but it's not a common occurance.

When we were on our cruise, the several times we went to the club for a look see, there was plenty of room and it was nowhere near capacity.

From what I've heard from DD and from other posters, embarcation night and the last night on the ship seem to be the busiest. Everyone wants to see the club/lab the first night and I guess parents encourage their kids to go to the club to be entertained while the parents pack - I know I would.

I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over this happening. As kcashner has said, even if it does happen, you can always wait a few minutes and someone will leave freeing up the space. The one thing I noticed is that there were almost always kids checking in and checking out.

Maybe some of the other folks can share their experiences. Has this happened to anyone?

Hi. Just back from a 3 day Wonder. There were about 850 kids onboard and my DD 7 was never refused entry. She went every night.

My daughter hates things on her wrist so they just put it on her ankle and that was finr with her and them....made it easier than me having to fight her to keep it on!

I would not worry about being denied entry. There were over 900 kids on our cruise and our DS was never denied entry.

Same withh us 900 kids no one denied.

I was wondering how that worked! What a relief! My DD is 3 and she is pretty social but has anyone had any experience with a child that young? I think she will be OK, it would help if she could be with her brother but he is 5. Can kids go in the first day before the ship has left? What time do they open the first day? I am single so I worry about having to drag them with me everywhere to get reservations for the spa etc.

The first day the kids clubs open at about 6:30 pm. It's a good idea to get your child in the first night if possible. The counselors work hard to get the kids to interact and meet each other. It's standing room only because all of the parents are watching to see if their kids are ok. Make sure to sign up for the kids club early because the line can get long. We waited for almost an hour before they got to us. You will have to drag them with you to make spa reservations since they are all made early in the day. It helps to know the schedule of when you can make your reservations onboard. Board early and make your Palo ressies as soon as you board.

Hope this helps:earsboy:

We have the early dining (6 pm, right) so we will be eating dinner when they open but maybe I can take them afterwards and see the show by myself (or find something else to do!) Thanks for the info, I am sure that I can get a reservation for the spa and then we can go swim. I don't think I will go to Palo's because I would feel weird by myself! :)

There has never been any child who has been denied entrance to club. However, what can happen (rarely) is they can run out of pagers.
