Oceaneer club question...

After looking over the Navigator for the 5 to 7 year olds, I have a question. My DD5 would love to do all of the activities, but some of the times conflict with our dinner times. Our DD will be eating with us every night (except at Palo's). On the Navigator it states that a child will receive a special gift if that child participates in at least two "key" activities a day. I don't see how she can do that and still save some time for us. This is a family vacation. For an example...There are three activities scheduled for the day while we are in St. Maartin. We will be on the island for the first two and the third is during Tropical Night.

So, now to my question. Has anyone received the special gift and did the child actually go to at least two activities a day? My DD will probably do at least one a day and maybe two. I just don't want her to miss out on anything.

Thanks!

Hi,

I can only share our own experiences from our land-and-sea trip with DS5. We were on the 3 day Wonder and realized quickly that we would be missing out on many things. Quite frankly, that is why we booked a 7-day Magic cruise before we even got off the boat.

We spent the days together. The MM pool was "it" for DS5. We even cut our excursions to Nassau and Castaway Cay short so that we could get back to the pool.

We rested in the late afternoon (a miracle that DS5 took naps). Then went to the early dinner seating. They served Hayden's Mac and Cheese right away. He gobbled it down and then wanted to go to the club. As we were just finishing our appetizers, DH or I would take him over, then enjoy the rest of our dinner together, along with a stroll or drink at one of the lounges.

We would pick up Hayden at 9:30 or so and get him into bed. He would watch a Disney movie on TV (usually fell asleep within 10 minutes). We enjoyed the remainder of the evening with special wine we brought out on the verandah.

Yeah, there are a lot of things we missed. Never even made it to a show. . . ..

But we had a great time.

We just got back today from the 7 day eastern and dd got the 'special prize'. All the information that we received indicated that she only had to participate in ONE main activity per day...and that is what she did. She was determined to get that prize!!! ..which, by the way, is a lunch bag and water bottle that have the oceaneer's club logo on them. They delivered it to the room on the last night (after the last main event).

She did not eat dinner with us for two of the nights...we would just grab her something earlier (we had the late seating) and then sign her in if it was an event that she didn't want to miss. We spent every 'docked' day at a beach and she just did the evening main events on those days.

Helen.

This must be new this year because I didn't see anything about a 'prize' on our 2000 (4 day) or 2001 (3 day) cruises. We are going on a 7 day cruise later this year so maybe they will have it then.

My kids did something every day, sometimes just one thing, but they did something with the kids program (we would go over the activities and they picked what they wanted to attend). We are hoping they have some new/different things on the 7 day since they have already been in the program twice already.

We are VERY excited that there is going to be a Character Breakfast on the 7 day.

My son was in the clubs all the time, participating in numerous activities every day. The ONE and ONLY activity that they gave out the lunch bag and water bottle, he missed it. I went back to the club to collect it for him and they said he couldnt have it because he did not participate in that ONE SPECIFIC activity! I am so glad that he didnt see that all of the other kids had it or he would have been VERY upset! I think the rules change day by day with these people!

Hi,

Just got back from the magic yesterday (5/4 - 5/11 trip) and my 9 year old participated in some, but not all of the activities in oceaneers lab. On the last day, our cabin steward had a hat for him that was from the oceaneers club. My 7 year old did not get one, but he didn't participate in as many events either. But I also found out from our table mates, that if you go up to the guest services and ask them for one, they will give you one.

It's a nice hat.

We had a great time.

Both of my kids received the same "prize" on the 3 day a few years ago on Christmas morning when they visited Santa in the lobby. It was wrapped like a Christmas gift and also contained little toys, deck of cards, etc.

Thank you for all the info. I'll let you know what we find out when we get back.

Thanks again!
