A few Oceaneer Band questions:

Will the Magic Band Bandits and CoverBands work with the Oceaneer Bands?

Are the bands removable, or locked on?

If you keep your band, can it be used on future cruises?

They use some sort of decorative tie-wrap to keep children from removing the Oceaneer "Magic" Band. There is a charge to keep the band, and I think it was $13 charged to your stateroom on the last day (debarkation day). I wanted to keep them for the children, but someone else decided to return them the last night of the cruise. :(

The cover things should work on the Oceaneer bands as they are the smae as Magic bands and they were selling the covers in the onboard shop.

My son's was locked on but we saw a lot of kids and theirs were not locked on. The lock was a kind of little plastic cable tie thing with a mickey shape at the end, it went around the strap, was secured to fit and then the long end was cut off. I guess you could ask for the band to be locked or not to be locked depending on if you think your child will take it off and lose it. Next time I will ask for it to be left unlocked I think as the lock thing rubbed and we ended up taking it off anyway.

I don't know if the band can be reused on future cruises but I would be interested to know that too as son kept his.

My kids are 4 and 5 and had theirs locked on last week. I imagine it's optional though. And when it was time to return them, i was able to get the lock off myself. My niece was 3 and hers was not locked on because apparently they won't put the lock on for 3 year olds.

Some of the locks are different colors to indicate allergies or other special instructions.

Sounds like these bands are different than our 8 night Bahamian last April on the Magic. (??)

Would anyone be so kind as to post a picture? We are sailing on the Fantasy in November and I'm sure DD (8) would love to see the band ahead of time.

Thanks in advance!

My kids had them last month on the Wonder, the one with Captain Mickey and the year. My youngest is 8 and never took it off. My oldest is that weird age (11) that he can go to both oceaneers and Edge. We asked them not to put on the lock since he said he did not want to wear it at Edge. They said they could not do that. The did however agree to make it really loose so he could wiggle it off his wrist. If you were going to put on a cover or decorations, you would probably want to have that with you when you checked in your kids and do it before the lock goes on. We were also told that you can reuse them on future cruises if you decide to keep them.

Thanks for the replies. We were hoping to be able to take the bands off for pictures from time to time.

Where can I find the covers for the bands? Is there a way to purchase them before our cruise or are they only available in the gift shop on board?

I don't know about buying the covers before the cruise but they were in the gift shops on the ship and at the entrance to the club. My son wanted to take his band off the first night but I told him it was locked on and he never asked to take it off again.

The covers and other accessories are available at multiple online sites. Disney and Amazon both carry coverbands and bandits..,

Do the kids only need the bands to go into the clubs?

My son has very sensitive skin. He wore his Aulani bracelets, and ended up with a rash on his arm. I'm not sure if the same will happen with these bands...really wish we could take them off when he's asleep.

We were told 3 year olds don't get a lock because it's a choking hazard. My 3 year old never got a lock. No charge if she lost her band though. The others must have a lock, My older daughter really did not want a lock and they said it has to go on, once it's on if we choose to unlock or take it off it's our choice but of course there would be a cost to replacing the band if it got lost. We did return our bands on the last night.

You need the bands in the club. It's how they know who is in the club, who the child actually is, medical/allergy information, and of course, what stateroom they are in and which adult can check them out from the club.

When they first put the band on my friend's son and her friend's son, the boys complained about it being too tight. Upon our request to have the bands looser, the counselor refitted the bands. We also asked that they were snug enough not to fall off, but loose enough to slip off if forced. The counselor made them fit snug but removable on our request. The boys never removed their bands after they were refitted.
