I tried this on the Community Board, maybe someone here has some suggestions.

I'm pretty familiar with OC. We usually rent a house for a week with my SIL and her family. This year is just us for three days, we're staying at the Beach Club. We haven't stayed here in probably 10 years. It was always nice then, is it still????

Also, since we usually have a house we eat in most meals. We won't be able to do this obviusly at the hotel. Anyone recommend something other than the usual?? We know Mac and Manco, done Crab Trap, Chatterbox, Yesterdays, Obadiah's, looking for something else? There is a restraunt at the hotel, but like I said we haven't stayed or eaten here for 10 years, can't remember how it is?

Any suggestions or comments on places to eat and the Beach Club.

We just spent 3 nights at the Beach Club over Memorial Day Weekend. Our room was fine, but nothing special. Three nights was the max I'd do there (especially with our little one in the PackNPlay). The location is great though.

We at breakfast there every day because it was soooo good. Their waffles are great and the outdoor seating was nice. We had lunch one day at a place near the hotel, but I can't remember the name. If you are standing on the boardwalk facing the hotel, it was to the left. It was a crab place that had fantastic sandwiches ("crab" was in the name of it) and the fried potatoes were really different (kind of like chips but kind of like french fries). We had lunch at the Hula Grill on day (on the boardwalk right next to the go-karts); it was delicious. I'm sure they do dinner too.

Also, right across the 9th street bridge in Somers Point is Smitty's Clam bar (on the bay). It's a pretty popular place and has a great reputation (I'm not a fan of clams and such, so we didn't go). The only other place we at dinner (besides the Crab Trap) was The Anchorage in Somers Point. I wouldn't really recommend it. The food was just okay. Honestly, I could survive on Mac N Manco pizza, Kohr's ice cream, funnel cake, and Curly's fries!

Enjoy your trip and watch out for the rip currents. Their pretty bad right now.

I hear you on the Mac and Manco and curly fires. I love Bob's lemonade as well.

We may just look into Smittys Clam Bar. I love clams, really any seafood.

We have had many pleasant trips to OC, NJ over the years! We have gone to the mountains the last two years, and I have really missed OC. In fact, we just did a day trip the other week because I was missing it so much.

Like you, we have always rented a beach house, so I am not helpful on the holiday review.

I have to say one of my pet peeves about OC is a lack of really good dining. We have paid too much too many times for mediocre food. We love Mac and Mangos, but other than that we mainly cook at the house because of so many lack luster experiences.

Hope you have a great visit to OC!

Here's a vote for Mack and Manco of course, followed by a Kohr's ice cream.

I suggest a smaller family owned restaurant called Spadafora's. It is a family favorite! It is around 9th street, just 1 block off of the boardwalk. It will be in the phone book...they have a seafood store as well, so make sure you find the restaurant.

You also have to go to Brown's which is at the very beginning of the boardwalk. They make fresh old fashioned donuts and serve a nice breakfast. We have been known to get up on a Saturday morning and take the 90 minute ride just for a donut...yummy! Cash only!
The lines can get long at both...make ressies for Spads and get to Browns before 9. Have a cinnamon donut for me!

We have a condo in OC so we are there every weekend. Here are some of our favorites :

Hula Grill - located on the boardwalk somewhere around 10th there is a little area that runs perpendicular to the boardwalk and there are a few restaurants. The Hula grill is all the way at the end. They have indoor and outdoor seating, nothing fancy but great food. They have fresh fish, coconut shrimp, pulled pork ect...

OC Surf Cafe - located on 8th street a few block from the boardwalk. This is our favorite place for breakfast. Great waffles and nice beachy atmosphere.

Kessels Corner - located on 28th(?) and Asbury. Great breakfast, sandwiches, and ice cream again nothing fancy. Reasonably priced, good family place

Piccini - located on West(I think it is around 13th right next store to Wawa)
great italian food, HUGE portions

Hope this helps, Have a GREAT time!
