We hoping to have our next family reunion in Ocean Beach Maryland next July, there would be about 50-60 of us.. would prefer some type of cabin type place but open to any ideas....anyone have anyplace they have visited there that was good? We haven't had one in years but our last ones were in PA and we would take over an entire place of cabins so that it was only our family in the whole place..

I think your best bet is to move the family vacation to Bethany or Rehobath Beach. Both are in Delaware. I like Ocean City, but I would not choose it as a place to have an extended family vacation. Its kind of ratty...although there are some newer and nicer hotels you might stay, but as far as cabins and big beach houses you are better off going to either Bethany or Rehobath (which are only 20/30 minutes from Ocean City). We rented a huge house in Rehobath a few years ago that housed 14 people and had a great time...the house was amazing with wrap around porches and big windows, one of the prettiest houses I have ever seen. If you are interested I can look through my stuff and see where we rented that place.

Otherwise, in Ocean City, I know the Holiday Inn Suites are nice, they are right on the boardwalk. Each room is a suite and has a jacuzzi -- but they are super $$$, especially during the summer months. There is also a new Hilton there that is nice. If you do end up finding a house, choose somewhere in North Ocean City, your chances of getting something nicer would be there.

I wouldn't call Ocean City ratty. But if you are looking for beachfront homes I would look to Bethany Beach and Rehobeth. There are more of them on the oceanfront.

Ocean City has a lot of places on the bay side if you are interested. OC would be a great place for a family reunion.

We stayed there in August. It is a wonderful place. Yes, quite $$$$, but our AARP discount sure did help! I would stay there again :thumbsup2 .

We went to OC in June & it is anything but "ratty!" We loved it & can't wait to go back!

We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo on the boardwalk, so I can't help you with accomodations for that large of a group.

Gosh I have never thought of Ocean MD as ratty.
We stay in the high rise condos around 120th street. It is beautiful.

Check out shorepro.com which will give you OC MD rentals, along with the DE. Beaches others have suggested.
We love the IRene, Golden sands and Dune mist all in OC MD.

If you're looking for cabins, you can check www.frontiertown.com I don't know if a campground is what you're looking for, but this is a pretty neat place. Holiday Inn & Suites is another great place, but it's pricey.

Well, its a beachy tourist town. Its not known for its cute beachfront accomodations and quaint neighborhoods, like Rehobath. You won't find the sea line cottages like you would in some of the New England beach towns. Its a fun place and usually an action packed vacation, but its not really known for its ambiance. And since I own property there, I think I'm qualified to say....not to mention since I'm 43 and have gone there pretty much every year of my life since I was a baby. :)

Good luck to the OP. Hope you enjoy your beach vacation, regardless of where you stay. There are many wonderful places to go and things to do in Ocean City, but if you are looking for clapboard cottages and a quiet vacation its probably not the right place for you.

I agree with what you're saying. I prefer Rehoboth Beach, but my kids love Ocean City. So we stay in OC, but stop in Rehoboth on the way down and the way home. Rehoboth is a quaint little beach, more relaxed and laid back. OC is more populated, there is more activity and it's just busier.
