Occupancy rates

I presume the DVC rooms are almost 100% booked but could be wrong. Does any one know if there are any statistics around for what are the most full months vs the least full ones.

Has anyone ever tracked people being on a waitlist at 11 months out, at 7 months out? Maybe there is no need but I am still new at this.

If you book within your resorts exclusive window, you can almost always get what you want, at the 7 month window, it is also pretty easy...unless it is a very popular time on the DVC calendar (low points periods, spring break, Easter, Christmas/New Years, Thanksgiving, F&W at Epcot resorts). But the resorts do operate at very high occupancy rates, and there are times you simply can't get in anywhere, without booking early.

Thanks. I am sure I will fiqure it out. I have been spending a lot of time reaading and less time posting. I have been compiling the information into a word document so I can refer back to it instead of forgetting what I have read.

The DVC system is designed to have the resorts at (or nearly at) capacity all the time. AFAIK, Disney doesn't publish occupancy rates for its resorts.

Some times of the year book up much more quickly than others. It is very rare to have to use a waitlist if you book at 11 months out.

In general, Grand Villas/Beach Cottages, standard view and guaranteed Boardwalk view rooms at the BWV book very quickly most times of the year.

VWL rooms book very quickly between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.

BCV & BWV book quickly October through New Year's Day.

Holiday weeks book relatively quickly at all resorts.

Summer books quickly for HH.

Not sure what is really busy for VB.

I recommend booking during the 11 month window for all of the above times or right at the 7 month window if you do not have home resort advantage.

IMHO, it is only necessary to call day by day for a VB Beach Cottage or OKW GV and standard view and Boardwalk view rooms at the BWV and possibly VWL for Thanksgiving through December.

I own at SSR and am planning a family event for August 07 (yep, 07). I would like to get a GV at OKW, but I am guessing that will not be available for me 7 months out. What are my options in order to get the GV at OKW, other than adding on additional points at OKW? I would think there has to be a way to transfer/rent points to book at the 11 month window, but I am not sure which would be the best avenue to take.

Your best bet is to find a OKW member who's willing to swap points with you for a year. You can post on the DVC Rent/Trade board to try to find someone.

As a side-note, my experience is that Friday and Saturday nights tend to have great availability rates at the 7 months point than the rest of the week.

When I was chatting with some of the front desk staff at VB, they told me that Summer is their busiest time, and the hardest for members to get ressies. I believe they mentioned that holiday weekends are also tough. I can attest that Presidents' Day is tough to get in the 2BRs & 1BRs (no so hard in those lovely Inn rooms tho). I believe Memorial Day is especially tough to get.
