Just curious if anyone knows what the occupancy rates are like at the value resorts in April(when Easter is in March) vs. the summer time? From a bus/food court/pool/guest services perspective, I am just wondering if there is a big difference.

Thanks!

You'd have to have someone deep inside Disney to give you that info...and likely they would not give it publicly.

Disney doesn't release the occupancy rates for a single resort, only for the entire property, in their annual and quarterly reports. I can't remember what the property's rate was for the '06 annual report. 92% keeps sticking in my head, but I'm likely wrong.

The occupancy rate at WDW for 4th qtr 06 and 1st qtr 07 was right around 87% the numbers are available in teh company 10q filings from the SEC and other websites FWIW for DL it was closer to 90%

You can always call the resort managers and ask them - they know what their occupancy rates are. We were told one year by the CM's at the GF that their occupancy was 97% the week we were there.

In general, though, as long as you're not going during Spring Break (peak season), the spring months are a lot better for visiting WDW. We live here now, and can really see the difference in park crowd levels over the summer & holidays.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I think the week we are looking at in April(4/12-4/19) should not be horrible as college breaks should be over and easter will be in March next year. I would rather stay in a value as long as the things mentioned in my original post are not being overrun due to 95-100% occupancy.

I've stayed at the value resorts alot, probably 30 stays and never during Easter. We generally go several times a year, but always late April/early May and often those stays are for 2 weeks so we usually are at a value resort. We find the occupancy during those visits high. The CMs sometimes will tell you if occupancy is high. We have never stayed at a value and had things slow and we never go during holidays. Expect 80-90% all of the time at the values. The food courts are always packed, but we are early birds and will visit during off times, usually about 6:30AM then again about 2:30PM. Never at the end of the night when the parks close and the buses roll in....
