Hi! We are thinking of making a trip in early June. The HS days are quickly filling up in June. My husband and son have tickets and I can make park reservations for them.
Since I’m not sure that we are going to take the trip, I don’t want to buy tickets for DD and me. Can I book a resort package with tickets for just her and I so that I can make park reservations and then add my son and husband later??

Short answer is no.

Now the details. If you have a resort package everyone in the room must have the same features. And in your example that means your tickets need to be for everyone as part of your package. So you husband and son will have extra tickets.

While it's true that everyone on the reservation package has to have the same entitlements, that's only true until you check in on the first day.

You could make the package reservation for you and your daughter only. Then, after you've checked in on the first day of the trip (not online check in), you can have the front desk add your husband and son to the reservation. At that point, the requirement that everyone have the same entitlements is gone.

That type of workaround of the package rules assumes that the OP has no need for DME transportation from the airport for her husband or son.

If they are not on the reservation before arrival they don't qualify for DME service. The good news in your suggestion is that they would qualify for DME return to the airport.

This is an example of how guests used to abuse the Free Dining or Disney Dining Plan on packages.

Yikes! That’s why I asked the question because I don’t want to abuse the system. We would not use DME so no issue there.

The other option is to book it and then later on make it a ticketless package, add you husband and son, and then buy your own tickets.

It should not impact any park reservations you have.
