My DF is arriving next Sunday August 12th. Has anyone used the DVC grocery delivery service? We were just thinking of ordering a few items as we are staying in a 1 bedroom at BCV. Is it worth it, or should I just go to the Garden Grocer or Walmart etc?

:hourglass

I would love to know this too. We usually do a grocery stop on the way in.

I have heard of some folks swearing by the DVC grocery delivery. The benefits are that there is only a $5 delivery fee, they bring them right to your room, and no minimums are required. The website has a grocery list to select from.

The drawbacks are that there is a limited selection, being that they choose basically from what the resort minimarts carry for food. But, if you are arriving late, want some items right away in the room, or just are pressed for time this might be the way to go.

I always intend to try this out, and have not as of yet. Maybe on my next WDW trip, whenever that may be, lol.

We used the Disney delivery service this past January at OKW. The selection was ideal for what we needed, mainly breakfast and snack items. Price was very fair, and having them not only delivered to your room, but also put away was great. We did not have to be in the room at delivery time. This is a big plus I feel. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. We plan on only purchasing breakfast items and snacks as we are on the dining plan for our visit home next week. I will at least give it a try and see how it works out.

SO do you tip on top of the 5 bucks? If you are not in the room.....do you leave a tip for them???

You mean they actually come into your room and put the items in your cabinets/ fridge, etc?

Not in cabinets. They will leave the non-perishables on the counter. But they will put the fridge and freezer items in the appropriate section so that all is waiting for you.

I have used them from time to time when I did not have a lot to order. They have always been very reliable.

DW and I are going on our first trip home in Oct. WE will be in a studio and are thinking of ordering some basics through DVC.

Since they buy the items from Disney stores, do they have items such as eggs available to order? We are still waiting for our pin number for the website.

Where would I look for info on this? Ordering site, selection...Can you find a quart of milk around the BCV marketplace thingy? I hate being new.
Thanks
Chris

Do you pay when you order. Do you leave a tip for them if you are not going to be there when they are delivered?? Thanks

Yes - eggs are available. Current price is $1.39/dozen.

Yes - milk is available. Price for a quart of 2% at BCV is $175. Half gallon is $2.95.

You can find the complete list / order form on the Members' Website. You'll see a link to the Grocery List under the Plan My Vacation section (right column on the home page).

Thank you for the help, do you like the member's website for anything else?

I check it every so often to see if anything new has been posted - especially re discounts, member perks, process changes. I like seeing the official info there, even if I often see it here first. :teeth:

But I really, really like the section that lists my point status and my reservations. Helps with my "paranoia" to see that my reservations (and points) are still there, LOL.

Also like that those members who choose to waitlist can check the website to see if their waitlists cam through - saves calls to MS and can be done when MS isn't open.

Looking forward to someday being able to check availability there, too. (I don't think Disney/DVC will pay what it takes to do online reservations - I think it will be too costly to develop & host a system that will have thousands trying to access it at the same time, especially when there are so many complications / complexities to the points).

Go to the member site on in the sidebar on Planning my vacation, go to the "grocery lists" button and click. It will pull up your specific villa and give you a pdf form that you can fill out and fax or email in.

And, yes, you can get the milk.

Yep. The order is pre-paid.

As for tipping, well, I have only tipped once. That was the one time that my groceries were being delivered at the same time I got in to my room. All the other times they were already there waiting for me to check in.

I only used it to check points and ressies as well. Time for me to look a lot closer at what they have to offeron the site. I actually like talking to a person to make ressies, instead of by computer. Thank you Carol for the info.
