I am a huge planner when it comes to vacations like many of us, and am planning for March 16-24 (8 nights) for 6 people. We normally stay on property but can not justify the cost for 6 of us. I have researched tons of off property options and see there are tons of options out there much more affordable and roomy. I really want to stay at Bonnet Creek though, but will not be able to afford a room there either unless I book less than 60 days out (looking to spend $1000 or less). How crazy would I be to wait and chance to get a room at Bonnet Creek during a fairly busy time? Do other rentals offer good last minute deals during this time too if Bonnet Creek is a bust?? This totally goes against my nature to wait, but I am leaning towards it? (Fyi-Travel dates are not flexible either) We really prefer Bonnet Creek due to the free schedule flexible with our larger group if some of us want to stay longer at the parks than others.

Michelle -I am in your exact situation, except one week later! We are a party of 6 as well, 4 adults and 2 girls. I will be watching this thread closely and use the comments in booking our lodging as well. Maybe if all goes well for us both we'll be pass it forward 'bin buddies' :)

I am going to chance the wait or go for windsor hills or emerald island. Will keep you posted :goodvibes Hopefully someone with experience with BC, gives us some advice : )

Book an acceptable backup that you can cancel, just in case. I think your chances are okay, but March is a busy time.

That's exactly what I would recommend, and what I'm doing. Except I'm going to book two on-site rooms in the hopes of free dining, and BC (as long as the cancellation policy is to my liking) as a back-up. I'll release one of them by the fall (we're not visiting until the end of May '12).

We booked BC through Paul at Utopia World Vacations and got the "60 day window" rate 6 months out. We did a 3BR Presidential unit for under 1100 Sat/Sat. :thumbsup2 He's a VIP owner and only rents what he owns so may have some more flexibility than others w/ regards to rates.

ITA with this if you choose to wait it out. You can book "room only" on site ressies that only require a 1 night deposit and you can cancel up to the day of arrival. When you "package" a onsite ressie you have to pay in full 45 days in advance, so be sure if you doing something for back up only that you book it room only so you won't owe any more funds. With 6 of you the best bet would be to do 2 rooms at a value.

Thanks for the info about Utopia World Vacations. Just checked and nothing now??

I emailed him directly and let him know what I was looking for and he responded back with the quote. :thumbsup2 I was actually quite surprised w/ the rate being so far out, we went from looking at the 2BR Deluxe to the 3BR Presidential (which also gave us an assigned room number) so we know we're in building 6 and can just go there to check in vs the chaos at the main check in.
