Do you think it is a bad thing to weigh in every day? Since making this lifestyle change I have been weighing myself often. I really feel good seeing the numbers go down. Yesterday I weighed in because it was my weigh-in day and I lost 5.1 pounds. (However, I did weigh myself two other times during the week prior to see myprogress). Then today I weighed in and I've lost another pound. I get excited to see the loss, but I thought I read somewhere that there is a reason you shouldn't weigh yourself every day. But I just can't seem to help myself.

I am obcessed with the dang scale....I am to the point ehere the weight is coming off slowly and it is discouraging. I want to see quicker motion downward, and it crawls and sometimes goes up. I have lost alot of weight, and this part is really bad....I have had to weigh in every three days not to get discouraged :)

Great job on your weight loss. Keep it up that is great!!! :) :)

I think weighing-in every day is considered "bad" because it can be a demotivator if people don't see the weight coming off on a daily basis, or it's not fast enough, or they may even see a slight increase.

If you have set realistic goals, realize that there are many factors in your daily weight (fluid inflow/outflow, certain times of the month, etc), and are highly motivated then frequent weigh-ins should be okay.

Personally, I weigh in EVERY morning. When I diet I need to have a routine that I follow so that I can stay on-plan. I try to do certain things at the same time every day and always start my day with a weigh-in.

I weigh in every day, as well. I simply use it as a tool to see how certain things affect my weight. If I show a gain, I think back on how I was eating, i.e. salty food, processed foods, not enough water, not enough physical activity, etc. That way I don't get upset about a gain, and adjust my meals/activity level accordingly. I really only count weight as lost if I weigh less after a month, and a SUCCESSFUL loss needs to be > 4lbs. I do celebrate EVERY little pound as I go, however!:p For some people though, it can be discouraging. I would weigh in as often as is PRODUCTIVE to your efforts. Got to go! Gilad and I have an appointment. Don't you just love Hawaii?

Another thing to look at when weighing in, is that your wieght will fluctuate from day to day and even by the time of day you wiegh, even if you are a size 0 model. Do not let those small fluctuations get to you. If you must weigh yourself every day, only count the wieght on one day per week to judge your progress (ie every Sunday AM).

I learned a long time ago to not weigh myself everyday. My weight has gone up as much as 12 pounds over night (darn fluid) and seeing the scale go up that much can sure be a set back.

I force myself to wait a week between weigh ins. I may still have that fluid retention gain but at least I'm not depressed everyday about it.
