My DD16 LOVES Little Mermaid  and was very disappointed to find out there is no ride or show spotlighting Ariel. I already booked a PS at Ariel's Grotto, but are there other ways for her to see Little Mermaid?

For her, this whole trip is about Little Mermaid! And yep, she's sixteen so I know the Disney magic isn't just for the younger kids!:)

If anyone has any suggestions or tips, I'd appreciate it.

You can also meet her in DL at her grotto. There is a daily schedule so you know when she will be there. We were in line probably 30 minutes early last time we were there - and right near the front of the line and got to see her arrival - I was chasing DS so I didn't personally get to see it - but I know that there was smoke or something special as her shell turned and she appeared.

There is also King Triton's carousel :confused3

Not sure what they call this area but it is between the castle and tomorow land in front of the materhorn. I belive they do charector meets with her right there too, since she isn't exactly moble..

I have never seen Ariel at the PFF - but I may have missed her. But we did spend a GREAT deal of time there in October and June.

Ok - this is not the best pic in the world - but the quickest one I could find. This is Ariel at her grotto in DL . Again, if you get there early and are the first in line - you can see her appear.

She is also part of the parade of dreams, so don't miss that......

Thanks for all the information!

She'll be thrilled that Ariel has a special place at DL!:cool1: and I am sure we'll be first in line.

I agree. Little Mermaid is not represented near as much as it should be. Neither is Lion King. Or Beauty & the Beast. What were they thinking during those years?

I was 16 when the Little Mermaid was first released in theaters, and I too was very into Ariel! I still am, I've got the Little Mermaid loaded on my Ipod!

If you ride the Storybook Land Canal Boats, when you go by Prince Eric's castle, you can hear Ariel singing. It always brings tears to my eyes!!

Just a little heads up. At Ariels Grotto you will interact with about 4 to 5 disney princesses but not Ariel herself. Ariel stands alone at the entrance to the dining area and as you come by to be seated you have a chance to get a picture taken with her and autographs. They only allow 1 picture per group and we did feel somewhat rushed during our Ariel "interaction." The rest of the princesses come by your table and chat with you for as little or long as you and they might like. We went last week and Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, and Belle were the attending princesses. Belle was exceptionally wonderful and stayed at our table for a good 5 minutes or more talking with my DD5. When I asked Belle what her favorite books were she answered something like "oh i love books with daring adventures, and of course a prince in disguise." Then she asked my daughter what books she liked and my daughter copped out with a "anything about you" answer. Then Belle invited her to come visit her at Beast's castle where they could spend all day reading together in Beasts library. MY DD5 is convinced that any day now she will be off to visit Belle at the castle. All in all, the lunch at Ariels was very cute and the service and food were both excellent, but there is very little of Ariel involved.

Thanks for the head's up about Ariel's Grotto. It sounds like if this was her only opportunity, I'd have a disappointed teen. I guess we'll be searching for her in her other venues.

The interaction with Ariel is much better when you visit her in DL in her Clamshell my dd also loves Ariel and the Ariel in DL talked to her much more than the one at Ariels Grotto, plus my daughter liked seeing Ariel with her fin rather than in a dress..:)

You MUST go see her in the clamshell at DL. She was so sweet and pretty that right then she became my favorite. Plus it's fun how she flips her tail up and down every so often. When we were visiting her there was a Photopass photographer there and his pictures turned out much better than mine did.

You might consider making a special page for her to sign with pictures of her on it or something, then your dd could either scrapbook with it or just frame it. Ariel is my niece's fav and we made a special page for her to sign and she gushed and gushed over it and gave my niece all kinds of extra time and attention. Now my niece has it hanging in her room- it's wonderful.

Have fun! princess:

That is a great idea! We leave tomorrow  , but will try to get something together to make it even more special!

We were in line when Ariel's "handler" began telling guests that Ariel would need to leave shortly for a swim break. She continued receiving visitors until my DSs and I reached the front of the line. The handler reiterated that Ariel needed to take a swim break now, and would be back in 10 minutes.

My DS6 was very disappointed until I asked him, "How is Ariel going to get to the water?" He said he didn't know, and so I pointed out that we had a front row seat to finding out! Suddenly her shell seat began to turn around and into the rock behind it. On the other side was another seat, empty of course.

After perhaps 5 minutes, a puff of smoke or steam signaled Ariel's return, and the shell seat again turned in toward the rock and the other seat appeared with Ariel in place. Once the seat came to a stop, she unfurled her tailfin and motioned for the boys to come join her.

She was lovely, so sweet and friendly, and my boys loved her beautiful tailfin! It was quite an experience for my two little boys.
