I had a solo trip with visits with a few friends from August 13 to 27. Timed to be late August for lower crowd levels when the south is back to school.
Crowds: moderate the first week, much lower the second week. Wait times dropped to less than a half hour on most attractions by second week. Even top rides less than an hour frequently. I did not use Lightning Lane at all. Did not need it (But I am not a park warrior trying to get a high ride count per day!)
My typical day: Arrive half hour prior to early entry start, get through gate, get in a line like Space Mountain or 7 Dwarves, and hope to get on and out before general admission and get into another line like Tron or Guardians. Even though Earlt entry is only a half hour, by arriving an hour early I was in first 100 of any queue, and had a good shot at a second line before general admission time. Space Mountain and Seven Dwarves both started loading about 8:20, 10 minutes early! And note: Tron and Guardians do not start until 9am. Yet people arrive at 8 and get in line, making their wait the same as it will be later... LOL. These generally started loading 10 minutes early as well, at 8:50.
Single rider lines are my friend. Did see a trend I have not seen before: Many times I had 20 to 30 people ahead of me and realized they included large groups of people using it as a fast lane. Not complaining, but saw it a lot.
New Parade: I avoided spoilers but did read a lot of criticism. So I viewed video of MSEP and Spectro before I went. Both of those are near and dear to my heart so I was worried.... without reason. Starlight was delightful. I did not find to too short, and I did not find it to be lacking in ground level. Nor did I find it to be "up higher" so definitely grab your spot early enough to be up front. What I liked was the updated tech and the color and music themes and cues per float. And please, no complaints about which characters are in or not in. We cannot all have our way. I will never see Djali again since the Hunchback Celebration show...
