Observation from My Recent Trip

The issue about the hats is silly I think. It's pretty much equal to trying on clothes at a clothing store. Or trying shoes on. You don't know how many people have tried that same one on, and they certainly don't clean it after.

True, and there was a recent study on those clothes also and the germs they found on them. It was an eye opener. :scared1: Then again, there was one about cell phones and the germs we have on them and we stick them next to our faces and handle them all the time. They recommended wiping them down with hand sanitizer.

The worst thing I saw a child do at WDW was last year when we were standing in line for dessert at the Seasons. There was a couple in front of us with a small child (3 or so) who decided to crawl on the floor. That wasn't great, but then he licked the floor. I thought I was going to gag. The mom just told him he was such a cute puppy dog.

I'm with you on the hat thing eww. This is why vaccinating kids is important. People don't realize how easy it is to spread illnesses, especially when there is a large crowd.

LOL! :lmao:

Clearly you've never had to deal with that issue. Lucky you.

We found out when the YMCA issued 3 or 4 batting helmets to each little league team to share. Never having dealt with the issue, I never gave it a second thought. Then one kid showed up to practice with his head shaved, and within a week we were dealing with it ourselves.

Sharing hats is most assuredly NOT the same as trying on clothes or shoes! But you go right ahead and give it a go. :thumbsup2 We won't.

Trying on hats in a store is personal hygiene's version of Russian Roulette (especially those shared with kids!)

The first time DS kissed Pluto's nose I shuddered and said "Oh Alex! Do you know how many other little kids kissed that same nose?" Pluto looked at me gravely and just nodded his head slowly. It was the funniest moment ever. :)

As much as it grosses me out I would never stop my kids from doing it. I'll just shudder silently and hope for the best.

The hats...well, we keep them away from those.

First of all, I am NOT a germaphobe. I had a great time on my recent trip watching the small kids interact with the characters. But every little kid kissed, slobbered and otherwise went crazy over the character noses. How nasty do you think those noses are?? It was really interesting to watch!!

OP do you have kids? I found once I had kid that my previous obsession with staying germ free and use of hand santitzers, etc went right out the window. Kids are germ factories and somewhere along the way it kicked in to quit worrying about it, b/c it was beyond my control. My kids are a successful 6 and 9 now and although we have caught DS6 doing everything from picking his gum back up off the ground and putting it in his mouth to touching every single item in the wal-mart and then sucking on his fingers, to licking the rails in line for Buzz Lightyear (not kidding), he hasn't come down with anything life threatening yet.
