Obscene Halloween costumes?

So glad you found something! Now I'm dreading Halloween though, because after reading all these posts I know there will be a ton of girls at senior dress up day on Halloween at our High School (where I work) wearing inappropriate stuff. Last year we had a girl in a 'police' outfit, and I saw way too much when she sat down - she was wearing a thong, I could tell you the color, and the mole on her backside... :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: At first I though she wasn't wearing any underwear! She said she got the costume at Frederick's of Hollywood :sad2:

Well we found the perfect costume!!!

We went shopping at a local thrift store and found stuff to make her a dead prom queen. We found a perfect black prom dress, just the right thing, long, simple, spaghetti straps but covers the "essential" area. Then we found a gauzy type black nylon cape/jacket thing that just goes perfect. she also found some black glitter shoes that not only look right, they're comfortable for walking. Now's here's the best part---total came to $25!!!!

We're going to have some fun with it! We also bought some fake blood and will tear up the gown and pour fake blood on it. Also I will make her a sash, probably go to Michaels and get some pink ribbon and write on it Prom Queen, then get it dirty, the whole idea is to look like a prom queen who dies and comes back to haunt everyone on Halloween.

So we had a great day shopping at thrift stores, and also supported a local charity!:yay:

This post makes me very happy :cutie: . This was always the way that I liked to do Halloween, hit the thriftshops & see what I could find. I'm so glad that you were successful but the best part is that you both had fun doing it & that you're both happy with the costume.

As an aside I was going to suggest one of the original goth babes (Morticia Addams or Lily Munster).

My daughter wants to be a vet. I think I'm very very happy.

My DD is only 2, but we've gotten the costume catalogs the last 2 years, and it's really disgusting. There is absolutely no reason for that. A friend and I had our kids out for some Happy Meals at McDonalds for a treat the other day, and they were sitting in the booths, munching on apple dippers and playing with their toys. There was a group of little girls who were around 9 (I have no idea where the chaperone was) who sat in the booth behind us with a halloween catalog. One of them announced "Let's find the sexiest costume!" I about spit my tea across the table.

I really don't want to think about my 9 year old worrying about being sexy. Makes me want to do what my parents did and move to a ranch in the middle of nowhere. No cable TV (they can't pipe it back there), sneaking in or out is entirely too much trouble (plus, getting to town costs half a tank of gas), and in a high school class of 60, everyone is pretty well supervised.

(Cue the banjos).

We went shopping last week - in school my dd has to dress as a story book charachter for Halloween and I was thinking Pippy Longstocking or Dorthoy from Wiz Oz - not my 9 year old dd - she wanted to be Little Ho Peep - that is what the costume looked like - short with the low top and the socks up to the thigh - OhmiGod! All of the costumes looked like that - only the toddler ones looked good. Needless to say she isn't little ho peep.

Even regular clothes now a days look trashy for this age group - all short or tight or low. I miss when she was 4 and I could dress her my way. I refuse to buy her sweat pants that say juicy on them!!!

"Little Ho Peep" and "Spongebob slut pants" OMG I'm literally laughing out loud!! So true though! I went to the costume shop with my sister and they are all skimpy!

This is what my 9 yr old dd is going to be...she too is into the darker side of Halloween:scared1: She is going to be Gothic Raggedy Ann. I actually think it's kind of cute!

My dd who was 8 last year wore that costume and won 1st prize in a contest:thumbsup2 What sealed the deal was she carried a real raggedy ann doll that said "I Love You". Everytime she went up by the judges she pressed the doll to talk. It was great.

My son and his girlfriend are having the same problem. They are trying to find a "couples" costume, but everything he picks out, the matching girls costume is slutty! It is ridiculous!! Not everyone wants to be trashy!! (and I am very fortunate that he has a girlfriend with proper values!:lovestruc )

That is a problem I'm having! I love buying costumes, but pretty much 98% are slutty. I saw Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite costumes but my GOSH. They are soooooo short!

I luckily found my costume, a Teen Sally costume from TNBC. Nice and long. :)

I guess I can consider myself lucky - living in SWOntario, Canada means that chances are Halloween night is going to be fairly cool if not down right cold and my kids have no choice other than to wear something that covers all of their "essentials". I do dread the day when they start going to parties instead of trick or treating !

Haven't you heard?? You can't consider yourself Canadian unless your Halloween costume is designed to fit over a parka!

Remember parkas...? Boy, I'm dating myself; my dad had a parka...
