I am so angry right now. It's warm outside today and I have a window open. I heard the kids(13yrs old ~1 lives next door) saying "oh there's our scooter in Kevin's(DS) backyard. I know what type of kids these are (not good)and go flying downstairs and outside because I know they will come in and take it and my dog is out in the yard. I waited to see if they came in the yard. My door is on the opposite side of the driveway. Sure enough, they just opened the gate and came in. I told them to GET OUT!! The kid that lives next door continued in and said that it was thier scooter. I know that it's not, but it's no good anyway. The 2nd kid comes in and I'm still telling them to get out. How dare you open someones gate with/or without a dog out there, not that she would do anything to them, but still. They leave with the scooter. Two seconds later the kids that I don't even know who he is comes and drops the scooter back over the fence saying that it doesn't work. I told him not to EVER open my gate up or come in this yard again. He starts to mouth off with profanity at me. The parents of the one kid never even bother to come and see what was going on. Not that I want to deal with this mother. She is a few sandwiches short of a picnic. She also deals drugs (yes I know for a fact - they were raided March 1st). I can't believe the nerve of these kids. I guess there will be a lock on the gate.

i would put a lock on the gate too! thats rediculous. i would never do something like that. we used to live next door to some "druggies" too. i am sooo glad we moved out to the country. good luck with keeping the little buggars(heheh) off of your property and out of your yard.

I call that trespassing and robbery and would have called the police.
Talk about scum!

Nothing worse than obnoxious teens and pain in the hiney neighbors too boot....but your "few sandwiches short of a picnic" made me laugh!

That is awful and I would get a lock on the gate. It doesn't surprise me though. A few years ago I some teenagers were sitting on our fence which boarders onto a field. I didn't mind them sitting there untill they broke the fence. When I went out and spoke to the about this they hurled abuse at me! They then moved on to the field at the side of our house and threw their shoes at my back garden fence. However one of their shoes managed to go over our fence and landed in my pond!! They knocked at my door and asked for it back. When I gave it to them (and asked them to go away) they said they would be back with their dad to complain at the state of their shoe!! I kind of pointed out that they were in the wrong and would be happy to discuss the matter with their dad and my friend (the local police chief!). I haven't seen them since!!:teeth:

Man, I'd llock the gate too to protect my family and the dog.

herc.

This reminds me of our neighbors in a way. We live next door to a family who has 3 kids (all under the age of 5), and our neighborhood is filled with little kids (about 15 under the age of 7). Well, the kids next door will just come into the backyard when our gate is closed, they'll park their bikes in the driveway, and run over to our swing (they have one too, but it is apparently too small for them). Then the other kids will run into our backyard too to play and their parents will follow and just stand in our driveway when we are INSIDE OUR HOUSE!! They don't even care! Ugh.

And just like you, my mom is considering getting a lock for our gate to keep them out.

I did tell them that if they thought that something in my yard was theirs and wanted it, that they should come to my door. The one kid said, why should he, it's public property and he could do what he wanted ~ shows what I'm dealing with.

Anyone have a nice quiet neighborhood with a house for sale. I have so wanted to move ~ w/druggies next to me and across the street from me (yes-fact-they too were raided along with their druggie buddies next too me), another neighbor across from me that is "clinically" not all there ~she's been put away a few times. All 3 of these people have kids too(such a shame). It used to be such a nice quiet place to live, but now that all the old people that lived on the street are dying we are really getting some winners. If we could afford to, we would move tomorrow.

I'd put a lock on the gate. It would just be your luck that these kids would come into your yard when you're not home get hurt and then sue you.

BTW, who's scooter is it?

It's my DS, but it was out to be included in some larger items that we are getting rid of (Spring cleaning).

I have a soon to be 13 year old and if he EVER said anything like that he would NEVER come out of this house again!

I feel so sorry for children who obviously have bad parents. Why do people like that have children, when they obviously don't want or care for them???? Around here I swear some of these women have babies just because its easier to hide their stolen things in the babie's stroller. UGGHH!

I would have called the police immediately. It might actually do those kids some good to have someone discipline them.

I would also get a lock for the gate. I believe that entering a yard with a locked gate crosses the line from trespassing to breaking and entering.

Good luck....very tough situation.

Is it terrible to say I would have called the police? Give your situation, the profanities, constant problems, uninvolved parents, etc. That's about the only route you have...

I would have called. At least it would have shown them you're not messing around... they are just going to push and push and push until someone stops them...

Argh. How frustrating!
