If I understand correctly you can book another cruise while on-board and receive a discount. And some people will do this knowing that they will not be cruising for the year they reserve; in order to move it to another date/year when that particular year opens up for reservations when they do want to cruise.

Here's my question. We want to cruise again in 2014; can we reserve a stateroom while on the Panama Canal cruise 2011, only to cancel it twice? For the years 2012 and 2013 when available, in order to cruise in 2014 when this date is open for reservations. And to make it even more complicated it would be for two staterooms.

Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

Yes, you can do that. Just let the booking agent onboard know that you are booking a "dummy" date to secure the discount. You will be able to book two staterooms as long as the lead name on the reservation is on the current cruise.

yup! We cruised in 2007-booked 2 staterooms, and bumped it a few times. Now we are booked for 2012--5 years after our last cruise--and kept our discount and OBC.

Yes, we cruise every 2 years and always book a dummy date then push it back when the dates finally come out. We also have 2 cabins and it's never been a problem.

Wow, that's good information. I will definitely book on board then. I know I'm taking another cruise, but the dates are hard to pin down and may be more than one year off.

The only think I noticed last time, was that the line to talk to the on-board "bookie", was really a long line. I don't know if it's worth my precious cruise time to stand in one more Disney line to book the next cruise. Hmmm.

You can fill out and leave a request card without standing in line and the future cruises cast member will contact you with categories/prices/etc.

Whether it's worth your time to obtain the discount would be your decision. We booked 4 future cruises while on our last cruise, visiting the cruise desk several times. If it was busy we simply came back later.
