I asserted that wasn't the case either, since on a previous cruise, when I sat down with the OBB agent, he was able to assign the future cruise to the TA I indicated, so there was no reason that the postcard placeholder cruise couldn't be assigned to a different TA as well

The rule about naming TAs for OBBs did change last year, maybe about 6 months ago. On an OBB, you can only name the TA from your current reservation or book direct yourself and transfer the reservation later. You cannot name a new or different TA during an Onboard Booking anymore. Sorry you got caught in that, glad it worked out for you.

Quick question about OBB. I'm going on a summer cruise as the only adult in our room and I want to do a future OBB for 2 rooms (more family is coming on that cruise). Can I do an OBB for 2 rooms? I would list an adult family member in the second room, but since that person isn't on the cruise with me I'm not sure I can do it. TIA!

It is my understanding that you can only book the same number of rooms as there are adults on the current cruise (so 2 adults in a SR can book 2 rooms for a future cruise) and they need to be in the name(s) of those adults. When it comes to the actual cruise, DCl don't actually care who physically sleeps in those rooms though. So we have booked a room in my name and one in my husband's. We will add one person to mine and one to his, then switch rooms on board.

And, to answer the question about when to book onboard if you want to book a placeholder, I was advised that they can wait to charge your card until the last day of the cruise, in order to allow you the maximum possible window for rebooking.

You can reserve two staterooms and have The second put on the name of an adult who is not on The cruise with you. You can change, remove and add names as long as one adult on The original OBB sails on The final cruise. Note that adding people to an existing OBB get The 10% discount, but are added at The rate of The day they are added and as long as capacity allows (mainly muster stations). Deleting names from an OBB is subject to The cancellation policy.

We are considering a big family reunion trip. A CM recently told me that I could book up to 4 rooms OBB. The first 2 would get the 10% + stateroom credit. The additional 2 rooms would not get the 10% but WOULD get the stateroom credit.

You can do an OBB for back to back cruises and get the full OBB benefits for both cruises. We just did this on the cruise we got off on Saturday -- booked 2 rooms each for two sailings back to back and got full benefits on all 4 reservations.

If you want to use OBB benefits for a B2B you must specify this when booking the OBB. So for 2 rooms B2B you must book 4 placeholders (@$200 each). The OBB desk will only accept this when it's specified as B2B and you cannot move one leg to another date and maintain OBB benefits.

Unfortunately, no. If it's not initially booked as a B2B, unless you have 2 OBBs/placeholders to use you'll only get the benefits for one leg of a B2B. Each leg of the B2B is officially a separate reservation and an OBB can only be applied to 1 reservation.
