ObamaCare Info

Well it is always easier to jump up and down and yell and scream instead of actually reading the article. She is a news reporter living around NYC If she was making 101% or poverty she would be living in a cardboard box. She has been paying out of pocket for a fairly crappy policy that actually covered and now is paying out of pocket about the same for a better policy. That is the way it's suppose to work. But keep yelling and jumping up and down and complaining that you can't log on and not trying any of the other options to get information. Like the story npr did last week about a woman in dc didn't have insurance because she couldn't afford it. When she had problems logging on and called the hotline and after giving basic information was sent a packet in the mail. She is now covered for the first time in years.
So keep yelling and screaming and jumping up and down. You're only really hurting yourself.

talk about not reading- did you read what i posted? You didn't even bother posting a link so excuse me for having no clue what article i was supposed to read for homework. No need to get into a pissing match if one reporters example out of all 50 states in the US is statistically valid or not (if it is then how about the other reports of crazy price increases- maye those are MORE valid). At best a few hundred thousand out of tens of millions who need coverage have purchased anything. Who knows what will turn out. As I said already we don't have enough information to really tell right now.

perhaps I picked a wrong place to post my thoughts as it wasn't the most relevant and for that I'm sorry.

The people jumping up and down amuse me. I also read an article where a reporter did some fact checking on 6 people who went onto FOX news to complain... he found that most of them were outright lying and making up numbers.

I'm just as amused at the people saying there are no issues and "you can just keep the insurance you have"- they should try and get pricing for themselves.

... but we need investigate and use real information, not just horror stories and fear.

very wisely said.
I couldn't agree more.

Google healthcare exchange subsidy calculator and several come up. Put in yearly income and how many in your family and it will tell you how much you may qualify for. Roughly for individuals making up to $46,000 and families up to $94,200 for a family of 4. Here's one of them to use.

Signing up is suppose to be easy. If this is any indication of things to come it will interesting to see what the rest of the ACA will be like.

Is there anyway to find out details about the plans (deductible amount, copay, etc) without filing out the application? I can see plan names and prices but no details. Thanks!

You could try Googling the name of the insurance company you are interested in. That should at least get you a list of what doctors and hospitals are on that insurance, but that's all.

Go to www.HealthCare.gov and click on "See Plans." You will see pricing information without having to login, although it won't include any subsidy you may be eligible for.

The pricing is NOT accurate since if you are pricing one person, you are only pricing under 50 years old or over 50 years old. Every age has a different price and so at 63, I was incorrectly guesstimated at a price for age 50.

When you ask for prices for parent and child, it doesn't ask the age of the parent, the age of the child, or how many children you have. How can you give a price estimate if you have no information?

Interesting article in the Washington Post on insurance co-ops and their solvency. In NJ, one of the 3 insurance companies in the marketplace is a co-op, Health Republic Insurance. The article says if they go under, the policyholder may be left with the medical bills. Guess this takes them off my list.

"The reviews also found that New York’s co-op had overly high debt and may have been overstating assets, while New Jersey’s co-op was projected to have expenses grow faster than revenue, “a negative indicator of the co-op’s ability to remain financially solvent.’’"

well keeping fingers crossed..... was able to set up an account about 2 hours ago......... we have been working on application for the past 2 hours..... it keeps looping us back to beginning...............

The prices given for under age 50 are being priced based on what a 27 year old would pay and the pricing being given for someone 50 or over is given based on a 50 year old. If you are older then 27 and older then 50 then you will pay more then what is quoted.

Did y'all hear Brian Williams on NBC news said the White House Will Delay Obamacare Individual Mandate. The sign up date will be moved to March 31st. Not that we're signing up but letting those who plan to enroll know this news. It's supposedly because of the website problems.

That's all well and good that they might delay the individual mandate, but what about the people who had insurance cancelled as of Jan 1st (due to non compliance with the ACA) and have to have new insurance? Delay doesn't help them with the screwed up website.

Yeah I was wondering about what those people are going to do. I am not sure what is happening with our insurance either. The guy I spoke to at the insurance company didn't have a clue.

For those who have gone online and registered, are you at all worried about your data being secure?

I would freeze my credit if I were you. What a mess this is going to be.
Good luck, seriously.

This is nothing new. The date has always been March 31 2014 to avoid the tax penalty.

After all the problems with the website, I wouldn't give them the name of my pet fish.

It's not the date that's been most often posted. Really doesn't affect me cause we're paying the penalty in any case.
