I find it interesting that others talk on here about how Palin is not qualified to be VP, however, she has more experience running a government than Obama does.

And no, running a campaing for the past 19 months is not experience enough to be president.

This thread got shuffled off to the 2nd page fairly quickly. I do find it a bit interesting that the Obama supporters have said that Palin isn't qualified, but their man has only been in Washington since '05.

Obama was a Constitutional Law professor for 12 years. He's smart.

It is the OP opinion, it is not shared by everyone. I think Obama has shown by his reaction to this crisis that he is more than ready to be President. It is McCain who decided to play politics with the crisis by telling Obama he would make a joint statement and then going in front of the cameras and taking all the credit for Obama's idea. Seems to me like McCain is not putting country first, but then I never fell for that line.

Being smart doens't automatically qualify someone to be President of the United States.
Being smart by itself doesn't qualify you, but not being smart disqualifies you. This seems self-evident, but it took me 8 years to figure this one out. I guess that disqualifies me from the presidency.

Another thing we may have forgotten during the last 8 years is that the US Constitution is kind of important. Obama is a scholar of the US Constitution.

I'm smart. My husband is smart. We are both well-educated, too. But we are not qualifed to be President of the United States of America. We know lots of very smart people with important jobs. Not one of them is qualified to be President of the United States of America.:rotfl:

ETA: Can someone help me figure out what I've done wrong with the ignore feature? Thanks!

Get back to me after you've been a constitutional law professor for 12 years, maybe we can get you on the ballot. In the meantime, try to do some community organizing, and serve as a state legislator in a huge district, and serve as a US Senator. Who knows???

Shhh......don't say this too loud (or too often). ;)

The convoluted logic and histrionics by some regarding Gov Palin provide me endless enjoyment. :)

Don't my feelings count?

Actually, maybe we should say it more......hmmmmm......

Then who is qualified?

Just last year, when Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia was talked about as a possible VP for Obama, good old Karl Rove, dismissed every one of his credentials. Basically said that being governor of such a small state of Virginia wasn't enough. Oh, but the man practically wet himself over Sarah Palin. You should have seen the "flip flop" in attitude over how "qualified" she was. When you compare the resonsibilities of the Governor of Alaska to the Governor of Virginia, there's a big differenced. But Karl Rove did his little spin doctor trick and made his followers believe every word he said. Laughable really.

So, what does count for good qualifications: Being the Governor of Texas like our esteemed current President? That went well. Being the Governor of Arkansas, like Bill Clinton?

I think being highly intelligent/smart is not a bad qualification to have.

I think he was officially a Senior Lecturer - he served AS a professor and was regarded AS a professor is what the college now says but at one time the college had him listed as “a senior lecturer (now on leave)." I think there is a BIG difference in the 2. I guess because of inquiries by the Clinton campaign the college changed their mind and sided with Obama. Although they did ask him to become a professor and he declined - so in my opinion NOT a professor.

The school calls him a professor, he's a professor.

University of Chicago Law School says he "served as a professor" and was "regarded as" a professor.

I posted that in my post - no need to repeat it.

Seems kinda funny (to me anyway) how prior to inquiries about it he was viewed by the college on their own site as just "a senior lecturer (now on leave)."

Whether he was a lecturer or a professor, he still has brains. Which is something the other side doesn't have.
