No "misery" here... I'm not, as you so kindly put it, "spewing" anything. There are a lot of us that understand the old adage "you can't win them all!"

There are also some of us that know that "words" are very easy to say... particularly when past actions don't seem to back them up.

I'm not sure if I'm lumped in to this rant, but not to worry, I'm not miserable. I do have concerns and questions as I'm sure many liberal would have if McCain wins.

Actually, now that I think of it, quotes actually aren't a bad idea; the Republicans have been trying to make people believe Obama is saying things he simply isn't. Here are his own words, his actual perspectives, for people to judge for themselves. Unless, of course, you don't trust people to make up their own minds, and figure you need to tell them what to think about Obama. That's a very patrician perspective, the kind I'd expect from the McCain/Palin campaign.

Except that they change, depending on which audience he is speaking to.

Do we beleive the BO that doesn't want socialism when speaking now, or the BO who speaks of socialism on the rope line two weeks ago and in a radio address in 2001????

I truly feel sorry for people who can be hoodwinked by a pretty speech in which a candidate says things that are designed to make you feel good and ignore the fact that his voting record is completely opposite to the things he's "spewing." Personally, I feel like a lot of the people clamoring for "hope" are so disgusted and disillusioned with the ways things are now that they desperately want to be deluded into thinking Senator Obama is a new Santa Claus, Jesus, Easter Bunny, and King Arthur all rolled into one. It's a great feeling. However, I suspect there will be a rude awakening when the campaign is over and he is firmly ensconced in the Oval Office and has no reason to pretend anymore and his far-left agenda comes roaring to the forefront.

I'm not miserable, but thank you for pretending to care.

Edit to say that I'm not necessarily saying his far-left agenda is necessarily bad. He's got some good ideas (if we could get him away from the tax issue). I am just making the point that I think a lot of people are ignoring his voting record and relying on his statements of "bipartisanship."

No actually I just don't trust what a politician has to say, and that's not picking on Obama, that's an equal shot at all the rest of them as well.

Nope, I think the next four years are going to be pretty entertaining for those of us on the Conservative side of things. It'll be entertaining to try and watch Obama sell the "details" once in office and the vagueness of the campaign trail will no longer do. It'll be interesting to watch many of his ideas have to be modified to fit certain realities and end up not being much "change" after all. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Nan and Harry decide they don't want to sing off the same sheet of music as Obama.

I tend to agree that we can survive this. But what scares me is the damage they can do. They will try to re-implement the "Fairness Doctrine" in order to silence conservative talk radio. The Card Check bill will force many people to join unions after threats and intimidation from union thugs. (I'm from western PA and trust me, unions do engage in violence and threats. ) Unless the Republicans in the senate grow a backbone (not a sure thing) and have at least 41 votes the Dems can do a lot of damage.

He also pledged to use public funds to finance his campaign, but didn't. He made some very left wing pledges to win the primary and has been attempting to disguise himself as a "centrist" ever since to win the general election. .

Oh gee.....a politician who leans left or right during the primaries and then back to the center in the general election.....the outrage! All politicians do this....well, except McCain. He doesn't seem to get that by leaning further to the right during the general election....well, that this tactic will *lose* him the election. Um Senator McCain....you're preaching to the choir. He's really run a terrible campaign....never got his act together.

The funny thing about McCain is that if he did win the election he will move so fast back to the middle (where he normally is) that the Republican base will be horrified.
