Oatmeal at McD's

I don't understand why anyone would buy oatmeal an McD's when it is actually one of the easiest breakfasts to make at home. Even if you are pressed for time, I believe that it would be quicker to throw a bowl of quick oats in the microwave then go to McD's. Also at home you can add whatever you want to it.

I was wondering this myself, aside from things like a trip or a "special" breakfast. (I use that term loosely since we ARE talking about McDonald's! :lmao:) It's so cheap making it at home. The big carton of quick oats is about $2 and lasts me a month or so of daily oatmeal.

It's quick, too. I microwave it for less than two minutes, stir it, then pour it into an old WDW refillable mug to take to work with me. I eat it when I get to work right out of the thermos. My commute is pretty short, so it's still warm.

Of course, if you cook it too long, the cleanup in the microwave can be a bear. :rotfl:

My daughter ordered it this morning and it looked like watery vomit.

I just saw that commercial. I love oatmeal and will give it a try!

I had it the other day and it was pretty good. I originally wanted the fruit & yogurt, but they were out. They were out of the fruit & walnut salad too, so the oatmeal was my last choice. I follow Weight Watchers and I was on vacation so I couldn't easily calculate the points. I figured it out when I got home and it was 7 points (6 if you omit the brown sugar)! So I doubt I will have it again based on that.

First off, I haven't had the McDonald's oatmeal (yet) but I don't like quick oats. I only like the regular oats or slow cooking oats. Even then, it still is only a 10 minute process on the stovetop but I can see someone not wanting to get all the stuff out. When I make mine on the stovetop I cook it with applesauce, a tsp of brown sugar, raisins, and cinnamon. Not a big deal but I do pull all that stuff out.

So, if the McDonald's oatmeal had the same consistancy and tasted good I might pick that up rather than cooking it at home. If the McD's stuff tastes like microwaved, quick cooking oats, nope, won't eat it.

Of course, you could always do like they supposedly did in many, many years gone by in Scotland, and cook huge amounts of it, pour it into a drawer, let it set and then cut slabs of it to take to work with you:lmao::lmao::lmao: Suppose it end up just like flapjack...wonder if a flapjack and milk were microwaved together you'd end up with porridge?

Wonder if they put it in the same drawer they used to put the baby to sleep in?:rotfl2:

Seriously, there are people who are cooking the steel-cut oats in a crockpot and then refrigerating it and warming up a serving everyday. That's probably what I *should* do but I don't.
