Pricing out cruises to compare to our DCL we currently have booked. Oasis is $300 cheaper than our Magic cruise, BUT with diff islands than the same ones we've been to (on the Magic). Also Oasis is out of Fort Lauderdale. Which currently is $200 pp less to fly to rather that MCO. Totaling a savings of about $900 for us. However Freedom is $500 cheaper + the airfare savings=$1,100 cheaper than our current Magic booked. Same itinerary as Oasis. So, is there a BIG difference between the 2? We have a DD12 if that makes a difference on either ship. Just curious if one has much more of an advantage over the other if we also decide to "jump ship";)

You can't go wrong with Freedom! I think there is plenty to do on Freedom to keep everyone busy and having fun. The only thing that I really want to do on the Oasis is the zipline. And I would like to see the "Central Park" area.

Freedom is a great first Royal cruise. You can always do Oasis next time!

But truthfully there is no wrong dicision here! You will have a great time on either.

We jumped ship from DCL a few years ago, with the Freedom being our first RCCL. It was fantastic! So much larger than the Disney Magic, with so much more to do. Since then we have also done the Oasis, and loved it too. But honestly, I think I would choose the Freedom over the Oasis. The Oasis has sooooo many people, and I think I would have been overwhelmed if we had not done the Freedom first.

We are going back on the Freedom in 60 days!:cool1:

We loved our Freedom cruise! We were completely blown away by the ship! Haven't been on Oasis but the Freedom is just one notch down in size, but we honestly don't know what we could have wanted for. We haven't given up DCL completely, but RCL and the Freedom will definitely be our first "go to".

I thought it was Freedom but actually it was an Independence of the Seas I was looking at. Which, from what I've read is similar class ship. Hubby & DD really want Oasis. Seems a little overwhelming to me but another family is coming too & DD will have a friend onboard so if we decide to go, it's looking like majority rules & Oasis is their pick. lol! I appreciate all the feedback though. Keep it coming.:)

You will love the Oasis! There is so much to do that no one in your family will get bored, and you can do as much or as little as you want! It is a beautiful ship. We had a Boardwalk cabin (looks out on the Boardwalk towards the back of the ship), and it was just the neatest thing, watching people do the zipline from our balcony, plus we could see the Aqua theater (I think that's what it was called) and some of the ocean.

The places where I felt crowded were the elevators and the breakfast buffet. Other than that, there is so much to do that the crowds get disbursed.

Have fun on your cruise!

I have been on both Oasis and Allure out of Fort Lauderdale as well as Freedom out of Cape Caneveral plus various other Royal Caribbean ships around Europe and UK. I cruised with them 4 times last year. We have enjoyed all the ships but the Oasis class does take some beating.
This year we are on Allure again out of Fort Lauderdale, the week prior we are trying Norweigan Getaway out of Miami. Really looking forward to that one as we are in one of the large Suites with access to the private haven part of the ship.
I would say go with Oasis class for the best experience but if the price difference is massive then go with Freedom.
Will be really strange this year as we are traveling to Orlando airport but not setting foot on Disney property. At least renting the DVC points has given me a bit of cash to blow in the casino and the casino or lack of it, been the reason I have not set foot on a disney cruise ship and never will. Seems crazy they don't have one.

I have not sailed RCI yet how do you feel the house take is compared to land based casinos? I have found cruise ship and Caribbean island casinos to be stingier on the payouts than most land based casinos.

The reviews are good to hear. We sailed on the Carnival Breeze in December, loved it so much, came home and researched our next cruise before we had unpacked. We are booked onto the Oasis of the Seas for April 2016, with connecting balcony cabins overlooking Central Park. Our motto in our house is "can't wait for twenty sixteen". lol
I saw someone mention the Norwegian Getaway, I have my eye on that one!

For just $200 more, I would definitely choose Oasis. Bigger with more stuff. Of course, some prefer a smaller ship. I wouldn't classify the Freedom-class ships as "small" though. They're massive anyway. If you are going for the big ship feel, might as well go bigger in my book.
