Oasis in AK during opening

When we visited AK on Saturday, July 11 there were CM's lining the walking paths and in the Oasis area with various animals (snake, tarantula, etc.) and skulls, etc. Guests were stopping to talk to the CM's about their exhibits. We did not stop and look at/for animals in the area (we were headed back to EE), but I do distinctly remember thinking how great it was that all of those CM's were out in that area for the guests.

ETA-I am posting this because some DISer's were wondering if there would be things to look at in the area due to the new Oasis now being a holding area.

New Oasis?
Holding area?

New Oasis?
Holding area?

Sorry, didn't mean new oasis, meant 'new' holding area. There was a report they were letting guests in early only to hold them in the Oasis. We were not held, but we did enter a bit later as we were getting pictures taken.

I've not heard of an interior "holding area" in DAK, but anything is possible at WDW.
If they start doing that again, it will require CMs to "walk" guests back to EE or Safari.

Thanks so much for this information, MainMom. I was wondering about the availability of things and CMs to see in the Oasis. I love to take my time in DAK, and this is great news.

We've long loved to stop and check out the anteaters. It's fun to point them out to other guests who may be less patient and/or less experienced.

If the rumors are true that the enclosure will see a new animal next year, I hope the anteaters find a new home elsewhere in the park.
