Oak Trail Golf Course

You could call and inquire about club rental rates: (407) WDW-GOLF (939-4653)

If you play it, please come back and report! My kids (really DD) wanted to play last trip, but it closed for refurb the day before we got there :(

Anyone know how strict they are with their dress code? Dh does not wear polos in the heat of the summer.

We are thinking of doing this in December. I think I saw online that club rental was $20 if you are staying at a Disney resort, and $50 if not. I've read a lot of mixed reviews, but it looks like it will be "free" since we have the WP&M, so I figure it's worth giving it a try. We'll probably bring our own clubs and just borrow a bag.

It's not a bad little course - it's 9-holes and is walking only. The course itself is very open and scenic, is managed well and always is in good condition when I've played. They have juniors tees, if you're thinking of having kids play. I feel like the course plays a little long on the Par 3s and a little short on the 4s, but that's probably just me.

I can't tell you much about cost or club rental because it's included in my Annual Pass and I have my own clubs stored in Orlando - plus, all Disney courses use TaylorMade and I don't really like playing with TaylorMade clubs. This is old, but I can't imagine the rental information has changed much: http://golfwdw.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/WDW-Golf-Rental-Equipment-Offerings-2014.pdf

I like the online reservation system for tee times, and I've never had a hard time getting a good tee time the day before.

Dress code most definitely is enforced, and that includes polos for men, or a mock turtleneck ... definitely some form of "collar" is required. I usually wear a v-neck and a golf/tennis skirt and have had no problems.

Spikes ARE NOT required, which is nice.

If it's very open, does that also mean not much shade? Are pushcarts (non-motorized) allowed?

Also, I just realized how close to Aulani the Ko' Olina course is.......that'll probably cost me a bundle :/

There are trees, so I don't know how much shade equals much? I've usually gone in the middle of the day and it hasn't bothered me, but then again, I'm from Texas where it feels like the surface of the sun ... and I grew up playing competitive golf in Orlando, so it doesn't really bother me. I will say that the fairways and the fairway rough is pretty wide - I'm sure you can find the course map on the site and judge by there how you feel the shade is. Sorry I'm not more help on that!!

Pushcarts ... I *believe* so. For the life of me, I can't remember now but I would be surprised if they weren't. My stored clubs are in a bag with backpack straps and a "kickstand", so I've always just back-carried my clubs.

We're from the south too, but I still hate being hot!! LOL. DD doesn't care. Always good to meet another girl who plays (ok, why is there a hanging-out-laundry smilie but not a waving one?? *wave*). But congrats on the Dopey--gives me a reason to use this one..... :worship:

Hahahaha, thank you!!

I would definitely give it a shot and go play - it's nine holes, and when else can you play golf at Disney?? And I can almost guarantee you it will be FAR cheaper than Ko' Olina!!

I grew up in Florida and played Bay Hill for years (high school, college) - the Charger course there is still my favorite nine-hole course, but Oak Trail isn't that bad at all ... it's a fun course that's forgiving and allows you to score low, which is all that really matters, right?

Great info, thanks! Good to know about the TM clubs - my husband and I love Taylormade, all we use :) What about the children - do they enforce the dress code for them?

I haven't played with kids, so I can't really tell you - personally, I would try to follow as closely to the rules as possible ... but as long as they aren't wearing denim shorts or jeans and look presentable, I think they'll be fine. I just really think they don't want jeans and t-shirts on adults.

My son and I play Taylormade as well. Just don't expect much from these rentals as they are several years old and are in rough shape. Grips are worn and clubs are pretty beat up. When we played in December the staff said they were supposed to be getting new Aeroburner woods and RSI irons to replace the Jet Speeds. I saw a recent post somewhere else that mentioned the Jet Speeds so I don't guess they have them yet. Still better than lugging clubs on vacation in my opinion.

Anyone been recently and hired clubs? I am trying to convince DH that he should get out and give it a go, he loves his golf, and it isn't like he gets to play in other countries all the time!

We play Magnolia, Palm and LBV every December. Never played Oak Trail, but the other 3 courses are very nice. The rental clubs last year were Taylormade M2 woods and irons. Nice. If I remember correctly they were $50 per round for off site guests. Can't wait to get back this December. My son and I love these courses.

I also have played LBv 3 x's in the past...Great discounts for AP, & DVC owners too...ANd yes the clubs are fairly good...Actually On my Honeymoon Years ago, They actually gave me a BRAND NEW SETT...had to take the plastic off of them..LoL....I wa afraid to use them & possibly break them... I was also thinking of doing Oak Trail this Nov. We'll see.

Pullcarts definitely allowed. My adult sons (fairly serious golfers) have done the rentals and been fine with what was offered - would probably be worth it for the $20 if onsite (or military like my guys) but I wouldn't say the course rates a $50 rental. If it's free included in your AP like ours is, then it can be a fun course. If you're paying already, I'd probably pay the extra to do one of the "real" courses (the extra $20-30 pays for a cart and 9 more holes). If you do play Oak Trail, I'd recommend earlier in the day if serious about golfing if you don't want to end up stuck behind zillions of kids playing for their first time. And of course to avoid the afternoon thunderstorms if playing in summer.
