Just curious if anyone has stayed here. Can't seem to find much when I do a search (when working) or page back. I found a good rate (I think) of $82/nt for a 2 BR villa in June. Anyone have any thoughts or could recommend a different villa for 8 for the same price.

Thanks everyone.

Friends of ours stayed there a couple years ago and were very happy with their 2 bedroom villa. We tried unsuccessfully to get a 2 bedroom villa for our upcoming trip, but they have been sold out of our arrival weekend so no rooms for us!

We stayed there in a 1 bdrm villa about 4 years ago. It was okay but I've seen better. Now the extra bedroom could make a big difference and the resort has changed hands since we stayed so things may have changed but here it goes...

Cons:

The villa was fine though not huge. My main complaint here was the wierd little Italian-made washer/dryer (designed to literally wash and dry in the same machine). First of all it was so small you could barely fit a change of clothes in there. Plus it took forever to wash and especially to dry. No joke, it took hours. However, others have reported having a normal washer/dryer so maybe this will not be an issue.

The game room was small dark and funky smelling - not a pleasant place to spend time.

This resort is not very close to the Disney area compared to many of the other resorts. It's not awful, maybe 20 minutes highway driving, but there are so many others that are closer.

Pros:

The pools were nice. There were either 1 or 2 normal swimming pools and a nice zero entry pool with a fountain-type feature in the middle.

There were grills provided outside the villas (if you care to bbq).

I think there was a tennis court.

Overall, I would say you could do better. On our last trip we looked around the Cypress Pointe/CP Grand Villas property (though not inside a villa). That looked good for the price and it is much much closer to Disney. It is just outside the area where all the DTD hotels are located. Just a note about this one, it does not have a big open resort feel to the property. It's more like little groupings of villas, kind of a residential rather than resort atmosphere. Looks nice though just not grand.

Thanks Kalamazoo. Thats what I have been looking for. I am getting overwhelmed with all the choices out there. There is ...

Cypress Pointe
Vistana
Bahama Bay
Orange Lake
Windsor Palms
Double Tree Villas (which I can't find anything about)

I have been keeping my eye on skyauction and hotelkingdom. I also feel I could do well on skyauction with OLCC.

You're welcome.

The only other resort on your list that I have personal info on is Vistana (Villages not Resort). There are 2 Vistana properties. VV is the smaller of the 2 because it is newer and they have not built all the phases yet. VR is not far from VV but closer to WDW though only by a minute or two. VR is usually cheaper than VV.

Vistana Villages does have that resort-like open concept I was referring to earlier. There is a huge pool (part of which is zero entry) and a basketball court. All of the villas surround the common area and the balconies all face toward the common area. The 2 bdrm villa has 2 bathrooms, a whirlpool tub in the masterbdrm, a tv in each bdrm, a tv and vcr and stereo in the living room.

There is a deli restaurant, a nice game room, a bar and a fitness center in the main building (right next to the pool).

There are 2 different types of 1 bedroom villa's available.

We discovered this after our 2nd stay at Oak Plantation.

The villa that Kalamazoo was in was exactly the same that our family stayed in the first time.

2nd year, we got a one bedroom again but what a big difference this was. It was a lot bigger. I think it was called a 1 bedroom loft. Also had a normal sized washer/dryer.

The front desk will let you sign out tennis rackets and balls or basketballs for use on the courts for free.

There is free use of a normal sized washer and dryer in the laundry room (laundry soap not free)

It was a bit of a distance from WDW but again we discovered that if we went north and took the toll highway it was so much faster than going along 192. It was worth paying an extra couple of bucks to save time and stress driving through traffic.

No idea what the 2 bedroom is like. I wonder how many bathrooms. You'd want at least 2. how many beds would you get? The 1 bedroom had only 1 king size bed.

Overall, for the price it was good. If you had 6 people I'd say this would be okay for you but for 8, I'm not too sure.

For 8 people how about a 3 bedroom at Holiday villas. I stayed there a few years ago and it was pretty comfortable and reasonable.

Disney Funseeker- thanks for the insite. I am very worry about being crowded with 8 people, so I will do some checking into Holiday Villas.

And I thought finding a place to stay would be fun and easy :)
