Oak Plantation Resort

Staying in the Oak Plantation in July for 3 weeks - anyone know anything about it?

We stayed there in 2003 before our Disney cruise and it was "okay" The pool is very nice as is the hot tub. We had a one bedroom unit and it was rather dingy and old. I did not see the 2 bdrm units. The location is good in terms of restaurants and Walmart but the traffic in that are is horrendous. You are a good 20 minutes from Disney and about 30 from Universal. I wouldn't stay there again but it was fine for 3 days/nights.

We stayed there 2 yrs ago, in a one bedroom condo. I really liked it, we got a great deal. The condo we were in was NOT dingy at all. BUT, when we were there, many of the condo's were being worked on. I am thinking they refurbished a bunch of them, including the one we were in.
It is kind of out of the way though. It seemed we ran into more traffic being so far back. I would recommend them though, it was a great value.

I used to live there! It was an apartment complex in the early '90s. I loved it and always felt very safe. When I was a CM, I would hop on 192 (just one block away), make a right onto 535 and follow it up to Crossroads/Hotel Plaza Blvd. The commute was fast and easy.

In August 2005, I took a drive over there to check it out while the kids were napping in the car. The grounds still looked very nice and the pool seems to have been upgraded since I lived there. It looks like a lot of fun! However, 192 was terribly congested and it seemed to take forever to get back onto WDW property.

You'll probably enjoy staying there as long as you plan your park days to allow for lots of travel time -- and you may want to skip taking an afternoon break since it might not be worth the hassle of travelling back and forth.
