Hi :wave2:
I must admit, that I can be a picky eater at times, but if I went to Jiko on our upcoming trip, I would definitely get the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon.
My question is about the red wine sauce that it is served with. How does that sauce taste. I understand that some things you can't really describe the taste, but if it is possible to describe could you help me?
Or just overall, is the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon good? Boy, its sure looks yummy!

It was awesome. The Filet melted in your mouth. pirate: :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1: We are leaving tonight for Disney and going to Jiko's again. I am ordering it when we go. I gave a bite to my husband and he wished he had ordered it. If you are worried about the taste of the sauce, as them to put it on the side

They'll put it on the side?
I'm not beyond trying the sauce, its just that it would be a shame if I didn't like it and it ruined my food.
I just assumed that they had to put it on the plate and couldn't put it on the side, but if they can then I will definitely get that.
I want to go to Jiko's now!
:dance3:

Oh and by the way thanks for the response!

I ordered the oak grilled filet when I was an Jiko, and was also very nervous about the sauce. I had them put it on the side, and loved every bit of it. Next time, I'll have it poured on. :)

That is my husband's favourite meal at WDW, he loves the sauce. I had a taste and it is delicious, not too heavy - enjoy!

I have learned that I like my filets and steaks sauceless. Don't do anything to it other than cook it. Sometimes I still take the chance and order it with whatever concept they want to do to it. The one at Jiko is served with macaroni and cheese, the sauce and flowers. It was very good though I thought the sauce went better with the macaroni and cheese which is more adult in flavor (IE: had a tart or slight bitter taste). Try it. :) By the way. The flowers are served on the salad as well. They are edible and taste like perfume.

I know the sauce looks scary, but it is very, very good. I agree the filet is wonderful and does need the sauce, but it really adds something to the mac and cheese. I tried the kid's filet with mac which the same just smaller portion and I will say I definitely prefered the mac with the sauce. This is my fave wdw restuarant and we will be dining there on our june trip. I also suggest you do do the wine pairing.

We have Jiko's booked for our Sept. trip. After seeing the reviews, this is definitely what I am ordering. Can't wait! :)

We are going to Jiko in Sept. and I want to order the filet but I like my meat cooked medium well to well done. Will I still enjoy the filet?

You know, when you take a nice wine reduction, a homemade mac & cheese, and a good filet all separately and eat them, they're good.

However, when you stick 'em all together and take a bit of Jiko mac & cheese with a piece of that filet, dredged in that sauce made from a nice South African wine all in one bite, you won't BELIEVE how good it is.

It ain't just "oak grilled filet" at Jiko. It's the whole combination of the wine reduction, the mac & cheese and steak.

Oh, and I like mine medium well, too. They cook it perfect, however you'd like. I've eaten there dozens of times and they've never missed a mark :)
