O/T What are you reading?

:rose: Nora Roberts is a favorite for me now after finding "Blue Dahlia" (the first of her "In the Garden" triology) in the giftshop when we were at CBR for the first time - :goodvibes very positive memories attached.

Also love Elizabeth Berg (everyone should read "Range of Motion") and for mysteries, Ayelet Waldman, Laurien Berenson and Leslie Meier keep me interested and looking for more.

Just bought "Three Cups of Tea", haven't started it yet though.

I have been reading the books of 'Jane Green' and they are really a light easy read. Enjoyable...I need a new one. I was in Florida last week and went through 2 of them!!

I'm not sure what book I'll take to Florida in three weeks. S

Have I got a book for you!!!! My new favorite book is "The Many Lives and Secret Sorrows of Josephine B" by Sandra Gulland. A good friend told me I had to read it, all her friends loved it etc and it sat on my bedside table for months as I thought it would be too heavy or intricate as it is about Josephine Boneparte, wife of Napoleon and their lives during the French Revolution. I assumed boring and dry but it was really all about her as a person, the rest was background and it was sooooo good. Hooks you from the first and I ended up reading all 3 books in this series. It is written in diary form so it is perfect for vacation as you can read little chunks without loosing the feel. I cannot tell yo how much I loved this book, it has knocked "A Fine Balance" to 2nd place in my list of favs. If you want something really funny, read anything by Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series, One for the Money, etc... I literally giggle when I read these, the characters are so outrageous.

You won't believe this but I got bored over the holidays and so I decided to read my daughters Twight series books and got completely hooked! I couldn't put them down!! The 4th book is a bit wierd but the first 3 were wonderful stories. I guess way back I was sort of into the whole "Buffy the vampire slayer thing" but these books were a complete trip for me!

Invasion Procedures by Orson Scott Card

Currently, I am reading Inkspell (second book in Inkheart series). If you like something light and fun, the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series is fun. For those who liked Twilight, my sister just recommended the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series (the HBO series True Blood is based on this)....this series (I was told) is NOT meant for tweens ;) ! I also read a lot of James Patterson and Harlan Coben.

Just finished Confessions of a Shopaholic (funny) but really enjoyed the continuation Shopaholic Takes Manhatten

I second Twilight. I just started it and cannot put it down. It is an easy read since it is for young adults, but a good story.

I also just bought The Secret, but have not read it yet.

And, of course, my brain candy will always be Danielle Steel.

thanks for the recommendations!

Here are 2 I thought I'd share; Trail of Crumbs by Kim Sunnee and The thirteenth tale by Diane Setterfield. Both were awesome, can't put it down, don't want it to end books!

I'm half way through Marley & Me by John Grogan. I really enjoyed the movie so thought I would try the book....we don't even have a dog but it's still good. My DD13 grabbed the book and read it before I even had a chance! It's a tear-jerker though. BTW -most of the story is set in Florida.

Twilight it was really good and my 11 yr old read it in 3 days and she is reading the 2nd and is over 1/2 thru it in 3 days.

Another vote for Twilight! I actually finished the first book just before my Disney trip in November, bought New Moon at Borders the night before our flight from Buffalo, and finished it while on the trip! I had Eclipse waiting for me (well, my sister waiting in the parking lot with it) when we got home.

Now that I have read the whole series (ok...read it 3 times over...sigh) I still have wonderful memories of reading part of it while in Disney!

I'm definitely for the Twilight series of books. By the end of the first book you'll want him (Edward) to bite you and be a "vegetarian" vampire forever! After you finish the first book you have to see the movie.

I just finished "Tell It To The Skies" by Erica James. Awesome, awesome, awesome!! :cool1: Would highly recommend it!! Best novel I've read in a while.

I'm currently reading The Appeal by John Grisham. Also an excellent choice. :thumbsup2

I too read my DD's twilight books and really enjoyed them and got dragged to the movie...enjoyed it too .....

If you liked Stephanie Meyer try Kelley Armstrong...she is Canadian and I love her books...they are definately NOT young readers tho( lots of "Romantic" encounters;) ...she writes about vampires, werewolves etc....she has very strong funny women characters....there are about 9 in the series...you don't HAVE to read them in order but I found it better......the library has them!

I just finished The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. To say I loved it would be an understatement!! It is a memoir of her childhood. Fantastic!
