We are off to Hamilton for yet another round of yearly fun filled allergy testing with my 7yo ds. I have this dream that one of these times he's going to come up as not being allergic to Tree nuts or anything else.... don't have high hope for this time though as his reaction last year was huge. Hopefully we won't find any more seasonal allergies today - seem to come up with a few more every year we go

I experienced every kind of allergy when I was younger in Brazil.
As years passed by, they all went away. Hope the same happens with your son.

Man... I know how stressful it is... I just went through allergy tests for the first time. I thought I might be allergic to milk and was so worried that I was...

But then, it actually showed that I was allergic to milk, wheat, barley, soy, kidney beans, and pinapples... of all things ???

Do you go to the Firestone Clinic? My son 4, had allergy testing in Hamilton with Dr Ohayon last September. He was only 3 at the time. The test showed he was severly allergic to peanut, mild reaction to tree nut, and other environmental allergy. We were then sent to do a blood test to test to confirm the levels in his blood. (It took 3 of us to hold him down) For peanut he scored well over 100. I was told this is extremely high. When he turns 6, he will be retested by blood test to determine if this number has changed at all. I wish you well, and pray your son is growing out of his allergy. I know that my son has a less than 2% chance of growing out of the peanut allergy, but there is always that 2% chance!!

Well we're home - thanks!!

He's added MORE tree nuts that he's allergic to and the original ones keep getting bigger every year - he's now allergic to cashew, walnut, pistachio, almond, pine nuts, macadamia nuts and coconut - they tested the coconut but it is not considered a nut. testing was at 9:30am and he still has the welts from the tree nut testing. He's also allergic to feather mix and tree pollen.

They did tell us that judging from the tests today and the fact that the original ones keep getting bigger it's more then likely a life long allergy.... at least we know how to deal with it and he's used to it!!

I don't know if you have considered seeing a naturopath or not, but a good friend has a child who has numerous allergies. She takes him to see a naturopath and she swears that somehow the naturopath has cured him of some of the allergies. I don't know anything about the treatment plan at all (except that it involves accupressure) , just that she talks VERY highly of the naturopath.

We went to see one for my older ds' who has ADD and is on Concerta just so he can focus at school - he takes an oil capsul with his meds and it does make a difference. Never really considered it with the younger one though - he's outgrown the majority of his allergies (to dairy, egg, peanut, beef, cinnamon and citrus) so it's only the tree nuts to avoid now!
