Anyone else just plain tired of going to snopes or other sites and disproving all the nauseatingly dumb things your FB friends post each day?! :sad2: Seriously, does anyone think before they repost some of this stuff??! Just had to vent here since I can't on FB ;). --Katie

YES! Drives me crazy and some of the worst offenders are highly educated and smart people that should know better than to believe these weird random problems that are only posted about on FB but never make the real news.

I have a friend that's constantly re-posting "omgzz missing child plz help!!!" stuff, like almost one a day. And EVERY time I've seen it I've googled the name and its been a child that went missing and was found again, back in early 2000's. God knows what site she's getting this from.

And don't even get me started on the passive-aggressive drama posts from people! "I'm so mad right now and certain people know why..." Um yah ok honey... no-one cares but you :rotfl2:

I just ignore it...if enough of that stuff comes from the same people I just hide or block them. Then I don't have to see it.

I used to snopes all the stupid emails my inlaws sent me, and then try and educate them.

Then I realized they were doing it out of love, and I decided to be happy rather than be right. So, I read their emails and delete as needed.

As for FB idiots, block and ignore, block and ignore.

Nobody wants to be told they're wrong, it's a bigger gift to keep the peace than prove the point.

I used to ignore but now I post the snopesi link to their specific missing child, horses being slaughtered, new ways to carjack/kidnap and health issue causes and say something like....this looked familiar and I checked on it and found the horses were all adopted within days of the situation back I 2009 .. You get the drift.

My other pet peeve or peeves are all the political junk some of my family constantly posts. That and all the fattening recipes well-meaning people love to share. Why can't they find something not loaded with cheese, bacon and potatoes? FB should be for keeping in touch with friends and family you don't get to see very often, not to air your political views. At least that's the way I look at it.

I have a relative who constantly posts this kind of thing. So....I told her all about Snopes.com and told her to make sure she checks the site before she posts her "alerts". So, what does she do now? She still posts the "alerts", but then adds the Snopes.com write-up that says they're not true. What the heck? Sigh.

That's..... Progress I guess? I just ignore them most of the time, sometimes I disprove, an. Other times I just go and click that little unfriendly button or the "remove from newsfeed" if it is someone who is an old friend/family.

I don't have FB--just because I am ignoring my "friends and family" who want me to have one. Come to find out, all of this is on their FB pages...yep, the snopes reports after their posting, the weird recipes and the I'm mad...

It used to be in my email box, but then they got FB and I got FREEDOM.:rotfl:

This made me LOL!!!

I had a person who weekly sent out email with links that were not true. I finally had it and sent her the snopes explanation for one of the truly off the wall things. Her reply, "I don't have time to check all of these out. I just send them on."

Ack! Stop doing it if you don't have a clue if they are true.

Sadly, she just couldn't resist continuing to "share" these gems of wisdom.

Chronic problem on FB, MySpace, email, and.......no flames please, once in a while on the DIS.

I have a couple of, game playing, fb buddies, who are on my news feed, that post pics of abused animals that make you want to puck!! I have to hide all those pics!!!

Have one friend who is passionate about his political views, but I can't take it!! I just had to all his posts.

I need to check a post I got yesterday, about calling 112 on your cell phone, if your being follow by police and you aren't going to stop until you get to a safe place? the number 112 is to a dispatcher who can help you??

Look up on Snopes.com, in America, Therefore, you are advised to dial 9-1-1 to report emergencies, especially from a cellular phone.

Today I'm dealing with the "gangs are putting baby dolls in car seats on the side of the road so you'll stop and then they'll attack you" classic :sad2:. I'm also getting to deal with a "peanut allergies are caused by peanut oil in vaccines" gem. Even after I posted a link from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology saying that there's NO evidence that there is peanut oil in any vaccine, I still get someone posting that "the article makes sense" to them :faint:. NOT worth my time. When I vented to DH, he quoted Ron White to me: "You can't fix stupid." Truth. --Katie

I saw a t-shirt recently that said, "Even duct tape can't fix stupid." I laughed out loud! So true!

Lmao there are 2 girls on my page who are constantly sharing all these fattening recipes; from appetizers to desserts. That doesn't bother me like the passive aggressive people who complain about others. Then there are people like my sister in law who list there whereabouts 10x a day. Not caring that you're stuck in traffic or at the grocery store. I had 400 friends and deleted my account. I made a new one just for people I know won't annoy me...that's about 60 friends or less. LOL

I like FB for seeing friends and family's pictures but aside from that, FB is generally annoying.

This has become more and more common on my FB news feed. Quite honestly, the people who do this on my feed are not necessarily the most intelligent people I know, so I don't find it too surprising, I just find it sad that they are so mind-numbingly clueless. Some of them I do post snopes links to, but generally you just can't fix stupid. :rolleyes1
