Here goes....

Just reserved (not booked yet) a cat 12 stateroom for a 7 night western cruise in May 2006....

Given the limited amoount of cat 12 stateroom available, what are my chances of being upgraded????

How are the seas that time of year? Any bad experiences?

For those of you flying down the day before, what,s the best deal for a hotel room near the airport.( I booked DCL transfers leaving from mco)

Are the cat 12 rooms big enough for 2 adults and two kids ? 13 and 9?

I read in the passporter that it can only sleep 3....so if this is true , why would the DCL clerk book me on a CAt 12???

I'm asking the experts here....can't wait to here all of you.

From what I've read the 12's sleep 3-4 people. http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...tateroomindex?id=C1112StandardInsideStateroom

I haven't cruised, so haven't actually seen the rooms, but with 4 people in a room I would prefer the Cat 10 for the split bathroom. It would make getting ready for dinner, etc, easier. Also the rooms are a little bigger.

I don't know the chances of an upgrade, but I assume it's like a hotel and you should book not expecting an upgrade in a Cat that you'd be happy in, and then if you get an upgrade it would be icing on the cake.

Have fun planning!

According the to the DCL brouchure on my desk, the category 12 rooms do only sleep 3. You may want to clarify that with DCL and make sure they understand there are 4 in your party. Regarding upgrades, I don't know that there's necessarily a better chance to be upgraded out of a category 12. It's always best not to count on one, lest you end up dissapointed. They may not over-book the category 12 rooms, in which case, there would be no need to upgrade. In any case, I often see category 11 rooms priced the same, or sometimes less, than category 12 rooms, so you may want to price a category 11 room. The two are the same size.

As far as the seas, May is usually pretty calm. Of course, you could hit bad weather or rough seas at any time of the year, but I don't think you'd be asking for trouble sailing in May.

There are tons of options for hotels near Orlando airport. We always stay at the Hyatt, which is a bit pricier, but is right in the terminal, so it makes it much easier. You check in for the DCL buses right in the lobby on the morning of the cruise. For any of the other hotels, you'd have to take a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and then back again in the morning. Dave's website has some good information on the hotel choices here. I would price both the Hyatt and a couple of others, factor in the added effort involved in transferring to and from the hotel, and decide what not having to do that might be worth. To me, it's worth a bit more for the convenience of the Hyatt, but I've heard many people say that they've had good experiences with some of the off-property hotels.
