GOVERNOR PATERSON ANNOUNCES ALL NEW YORKERS 6 MONTHS AND OLDER NOW ELIGIBLE TO GET H1N1 VACCINE
Directs Counties, Health Care Providers to Make Vaccine Available to General Public in Addition to Priority Groups
Public Health Officials Eye Window of Opportunity to Vaccinate More New Yorkers Before Flu Activity Picks Up Again
Governor David A. Paterson today announced that, effective immediately, health care providers may make the H1N1 flu vaccine available to all New Yorkers who want the vaccine, including those who are not in priority groups established by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The announcement applies to all providers, including local health departments with vaccine clinics scheduled for this weekend.

This appears to be the fourth state I have heard of. The other three are FL, MD and OH.

Great news. Maybe New Hampshire will follow along soon. I would like to get the H1N1 vaccine but so far have been unable to do so.

Easy for the govenor to say. I am in NYS and spoke with my drs. office. They neither have nor do they think they will be getting any of the vaccines in.

Just so I didn't read this wrong, the govenor just lifted the "guidelines" of who qualifies, he didn't actually secure any vaccines? Am I right or wrong?

Well supposedly part of DGD's school district will be having their clinic on the 15th - but only for the students who attend the two schools that are in that "other" county - and then only if that county doesn't cancel it for the 4th time because the health dept. doesn't have the vaccine available.. The info pack specifically states: "SCPHS have told us that due to the limited supply of vaccine only children currently attending _________ or _____________ may be vaccinated at this time. Younger and older siblings are not eligible."

Still nothing for the rest of DGD's larger portion of the school district that is located in the second county..

Not a problem though - everyone in this household has been taken care of..:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I do feel sorry for those who keep hearing this info though and still aren't able to locate the vaccine anywhere.. If it wasn't so sad, I would have laughed when I heard the news..:sad2:

Hopefully you can find something in your area soon..

Have you checked on the site to see if there is a clinic in your area? It may be that your doc doesn't have it but a local clinic might. My neighbor went to a clinic in Albany this week for his (he doesn't live in Albany).

Some school districts have clinics scheduled, but you have to be a student. Leaves me out for these. All the other clinics show no availability still....
