NYE where to make ADR?

I'm not too sure what's going on during NYE. I know it will be packed. Anyone have any suggestions on where to eat on NYE? Which park is the best to be in? Or should we eat at one of the resort restaurants?

I'm going on NYE and I'm eating lunch at Le Ceiller at 2:30 and dinner at the coral reef at 8:20. We'll be in EPCOT.

Just thought I'd say what I was doing.

MK has their NYE fireworks on the 30th. I'm going to MK the day before NYE to see them!

We have been twice for NYE and day. If you plan on doing MK on NYE you should get there at opening and plan on staying there as it has closed to all guests by 10am (including resort guests) consistantly. Where ever you choose (resort or park) make adr's asap(its already beyond 180days and many inlcuding me have laready done this). 2003-4 we chose to go to MGM(DS) in am and then go to Epcot around 4pm with adr around 8pm at Teppanyaki (japan). epcot was crowded, but we had no problem park hopping there. It get very crazy with huge crowds, but Illuminations are fantastic that night and there are many outdoor music venues. 2004-5 we went to MGM and stayed the whole time for NYE. we had adr at BD at 8pm and saw the last fantastmic and then took boat to back to Swan(we stayed there that year) around 11:30pm and watched the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks from our 11th floor room that overlooked TOT and beat the crowds exiting park after midnite. We could even see the high fireworks of Illuminations from the dock at Swan/Dolphin. We will be there for NYE/day this year and will also avoid MK...just too crazy. MAKE YOUR ADR FOR NYE AT EXACTLY 180 TO GET YOUR CHOICE! The best thing is that New Year's Day is very quiet touring in the morning thru early afternoon, I would even do MK that day. Have fun.

We did NYE a few years ago and my suggestion would be MGM or Epcot. MK will be wall to wall people. We did Epcot and were able to enter as late as 5pm without any problems. I would say the Coral reef for dinner and just plan to stay in the park. It gets very crowded but nothing like MK. The fireworks display is absolutely incredible. Way bigger then the normal illuminations display. Someday I'll go back to Epcot for NYE>

Thanks everyone for the wonderful info. We just became DVC members so we're planning on booking SSR for 12/31-1/4. Our guide told us our names will be in the system on Mon. and he'll book the stay for us, do I need the reservation first or can I just make the ADR's? With our vacation we're doing next month, we had the vacation already booked when we made our ADR's.

It looks like we'll be going to Epcot, hopefully we can snag something!

The negative about Epcot is that people get VERY DRUNK very early. It is also very crowded and you have too watch younger children so they wont get crushed near the hat/ noisemakers handout areas. It has been very scary around United Kingdom. We usually eat early watch the early fireworks and leave the park and watch later fireworks around the Boardwalk area,that is if we stay up to watch them. I like to get up early on New Years day.

I loved MK on NYE! There were a DJs all around the park and the general feeling was very magical (I didn't notice anyone drunk like on PP said about Epcot). Also, right after the fireworks most people leave so we had the whole park to ourselves (or so it felt). We rode ride after ride with NO WAIT! I mean nothing!

There was free hot chocolate and cookies.

I loved it- even with all the people I would do it again in a heart beat!

I should have noted: Wherever you go, get sit down ADRs as they are great opportunities to rest (and escape crowds)!

Last NYE we planned the trip very late so we only could book Plaza at 3 and Tonys (another strange time). Plaza is so yummy - so glad we did this! Tonys has a special NYE menu, but it was such a let down. I wouldn't do it again.

Our one-and-only NYE in the MK we had a dinner ADR at Crystal Palace, that I scheduled exactly 180 days out and that was the only time I could get. Big mistake. Waited in line 45 minutes just to check-in and the porch was a madhouse. Our ADR was for 7pm, with the expectation that we'd be able to get out of the restaurant to see the earlier NYE fireworks and to see Tinkerbell fly. I got in the check-in line at 6:30pm and was stuck behind lots of families who thought they all had to be in the line, which just made things worse (let alone those who felt that the sign that said "NO WALKUPS" didn't apply to them. We were finally seated after 8pm and drew the short end of the food and server stick. Of course, we were also a little frazzled from the waiting and the screaming kids on the porch, which makes my recollection even less positive. We missed Tinkerbell, were almost trampled on getting out of the restaurant, and DH was almost punched out by a family on the porch because he had the nerve to try and save me a seat.

CP is one of our favorite restaurants, but NYE is clearly not one of their better events. Or maybe it's just that everyone is so tired and stressed from being stuck in MK the whole day that it just magnifies the feelings.

FYI-We have been at DW the past five years for NYE and as mentioned the parks are exciting. You may not realize that they have fabulous fireworks at midnight at downtown disney. We start by having dinner at the Turf Club and then watch the fireworks across the water. It's great for us since we have younger sons and we don't want to fight the crowds that night. Just another perspective. We have been lucky enough to have a room overlooking downtown disney so we could watch the fireworks from our balcony and we had the added bonus of seeing the fireworks off in the distance from MK. Too cool!! Have a GREAT TIME!! See you there!!
