So . . . if I have a NYE ADR at Rose & Crown for 9:30 pm, and we order appetizers, dinner and dessert . . . do you think I'm in a good situation to be able to watch the NYE fireworks right from R&C? (They start at 11:40 pm.)

Thanks!!

I was wondering the same thing! We have 9:30pm ressies as well and wondered if they needed to be moved to later in the evening.

I'm tempted to ask this on the regular restaurant board. :) Not a ton of NYE info, unless I'm searching wrong.

I will tell you that we did move ours to 10 pm. I figure even if they are running late, we won't mind waiting at that point in the night. And if it turns out we only have an hour to eat before the fireworks or something then we won't order 3 courses, just 2. And whether we're seated on the patio or not, I know there's that viewing area. I just want someone to tell me they don't suddenly kick you out into the crowd 5 mins before the fireworks start. :)

Just booked the 10:05 slot that night and would love to know also if we will get kicked out into the crowd. This will be our first trip to WDW over NYE can't wait for the party to begin:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Pit303 I'm wondering the same thing about if we will be kicked out into the crowd???? Hopefully someone will shed some light on our NYE planning :)

Fingers toes and anything else I can cross that they are running behind schedule that night and we get seated closer to 11:00 PM!!:idea:

I just can't imagine they'll kick us out right? I guess no one is seeing this post who's done this on NYE, but if they don't kick you out for regular illuminations on nights the park closes at 9, surely they don't kick you out on NYE when the park closes at 1 right?

We'll have to all wave to each other! :)

Dinner at Rose and Crown only takes about 1 hour to 1 and 1/2 hours so I would schedule dinner for 10:15 or after. If you go at 9:30 and your dinner is over by 11:00 there is a possibility you will be made to feel uncomfortable if there are people still waiting for a table for their 10:30 to 11:00 reservation. Of course, I don't know this for sure. I'm just thinking of the usual timing of dinner at Rose and Crown.

Either way, I wish you the best. :wizard:

I didn't see them booking beyond 10:20 or 10:25 the last time I checked . . . we got a 10 pm and the fireworks start at 11:40. So I'm hoping that even if we're seated right on time, it would not be unreasonable to think that 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 desserts and the check might take 1 hr and 40 mins to accomplish.

Am also hoping that even if we finish up right before 11:40, we can go out and watch from R&C's viewing area? Didn't I read that they have a viewing area separate from the patio dining or does everyone just go out to the patio?

Cindy, I'll be doing this :wave2: , so look for us! lol We are a party of 9 and 4 of us are redheads. By the way, I did speak to a couple of CM's about the private dining area at the Rose and Crown and they said there was no such thing, only the dining patio. Well I know I've been reading these boards forever and I keep reading about the private viewing area. With NYE being so crowded I hope they don't open up that area (imaginary or not) to whoever get's there first.

Ooh - you should be easy to spot then! Maybe if you're fortunate enough to get your party of 9 seated on the patio, they won't mind if 2 extras sneak out and join you for 30 mins. of fireworks :) Either way, I'll definitely :wave2:

Actually, when I go in Sept., I'll have to swing by, check this mythical area out and poll the CMs working there that day! :thumbsup2

There is a viewing area for R&C patrons to the left the restaurant (when facing the check-in podium). It has great view of Illuminations. I've not been there on NYE, but on regular nights, you tell you server that you want to see IllumiNations and they escort you to the viewing area. When the show is over, you go back inside to finish your meal.

Here are a few pictures from the viewing area:

Aha! Thank you - will check this out in Sept. in prep for Dec.! I just read another post today that said on a regular evening while trying to watch Illuminations from the area, an R&C patron found the viewing area to be crowded with non R&C patrons! I wonder how well they are able to police this area, esp. on a night like NYE . . . .

In December, there was a CM at the entrance to the viewing area that only let in those people who were escorted by a R&C CM. When you face the check-in podium, there is a walk-way leading down to World Showcase lagoon. At the end of the pathway, you can either go right or left. To the left is the open area (there are some tables) that anyone can watch IllumiNations from. To the right is the viewing area for the R&C.

Thanks! That is awesome!

It sounds like the poster was actually in the area to the left of the R&C and NOT in the R&C viewing area. It's near the edge of the lagoon, but it has a few tables and chairs and is accessed from the WS walkway.

Everytime I've been at the R&C there was a CM at the entrance to the viewing area who would only allow R&C guests in. but it could get crowded if a lot of the restaurant guests go outside because it isn't a very large area.
