The guys want Pizza and Wings, I want to add to the buffet without breaking the bank. (got to have $ for the drinks :rotfl:). Not really into the cheese and crackers stuff with having pizza but not coming up with ideas besides chips and pretzels which seem boring to me with having friends over. I want to Celebrate!

So what are you making/having?

Any suggestions?

I'm looking for some good ideas as well. We always make pickle wraps but a I am looking for something differnent but easy!!

What's a pickle wrap?? I am curious, as I love pickles.

Our family's tradition is to have an assortment of appetizers for dinner and hot fudge sundaes for dessert! Some of the appetizers I'm considering for this NYE are popcorn chicken, pizza rolls, potato skins, and queso and chips. Looking forward to hear what everyone else chimes in with!

Well, I'm currently thinking:

Cocktail meatballs
Pizza bites (not the frozen kind)
Bacon wrapped water chestnuts
Veggie tray
Crackers and cheese

Not sure, though.

We're having snacks

I'm making a Nacho Bar - Meat, Nacho Cheese, Sour Cream, Salsa and Chips

Another person is bringing the fixings for a Sundae Bar for the kids

Besides that its all snacks. Shrimp, Artichoke n Spinach Dip... more I just can't think

I do a NYE party every year...some years i order in addition to appetizers i get hero's or make Lasagna - but find most don't eat that much

This years menu looks something like this

Champagne Punch Bowl
Jello Shots (tradition) for Adults only

All the chips dips/salsa and candy...

Bread sticks with cream cheese rolled in Salami - YUMMY

Mini hot dogs
Potato Skins

i'm heading to Costco to pick up a few more appetizers as well...

Do you make your pizza bites? If so, how do you do it?

We are having pizza rolls (the frozen kind), taquitos, and southwest egg rolls. All frozen and all bad for you. Oh, and DS wants pepper jack cheese wedges which are basically cheese sticks in triangle form.

So far, I am planning:

Hot Sloppy Chicken sandwiches
Ham sandwiches

vegetable & dip tray
summer sausage, cheese, & crackers
chex party mix

My family loves the Hidden Valley Ranch apps :

Oyster Cracker Snack
½ teaspoon dill weed
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 box (16 ounces) oyster crackers
1 packet (1 ounce) Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix
Optional: ¼ teaspoon lemon pepper or ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Place crackers in a gallon-size Glad-Lock® Zipper™ Storage Bag. Pour oil over crackers; seal bag and toss to coat.
Add dressing mix and spice; seal bag and toss again until coated. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 250°F for 15 to 20
minutes or until golden brown.

Hidden Valley Ranch Sausage Stars
2 cups (1 lb.) cooked crumbled sausage
1 1/2 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup prepared Hidden Valley Ranch Original Ranch Salad Dressing Mix (you can substitute bottled Ranch)
1 can (2.25 oz) sliced ripe olives (I omit these)
1/2 cup chopped red pepper (I use green)
1 pkg. won ton wrappers (I find then in the vegetable case). or egg roll wrappers, cut into quarters
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Blot the sausage dry with a paper towels, and combine with cheeses, salad dressing, olives and pepper.

Lightly grease a mini muffin pan with cooking spray and press 1 wrapper in each cup. Lightly spray with vegetable spray and bake for 5 minutes until golden. Remove from tins; place on baking sheet. Fill with sausage mixture. Bake 5 minutes until bubbly

Pickle Wraps
My mom would get that very thinly sliced beef in the deli section, spread cream cheese and add a very thinly cut pickle - I'm pretty sure she used gherkin pickles she cut into long strips - then rolled them, cut them in half or fourths...

And who doesnt like Shrimp for an appetizer!!
I make mine with cream cheese - I take the cream cheese add a grated onion, some worchestershire sauce then spread it on a plate - then I take BENET's CHILI Sauce (it looks like the red horseradish ketchup sauce, but its different I think my mom said Heinz makes a chili sauce as well) Pour that on the cream cheese - add a can of drained and rinsed crab, then top with tiny shrimp!!

I know most people just take the brick of cream cheese dump that red bottle of horseradish shrimp sauce and then add shrimp - its a lot faster/easier.. but no crab! ;)

Then there is that bag of meatballs at Sam's Club - you put them in your crock pot Dump in the 32 ounces of Grape Jelly and a 2 jars (12 ounces) of that Chili Sauce (I use Benet's but Heinz makes it too) - (at Halloween some use those little smokie hot dog type sausages and call it fingers or something silly)

Ok picklewraps

Take any type of sliced ham spread with cream cheese add dill pickle and roll up. stick in toothpicks and cut into bite size pieces.

If we don't make these for every party I think we would get univited!! even to our own party!!:rotfl2:

sounds similar to my breadsticks w/cream cheese & Salami

so the long dill pickles? why cut it up - can't u just eat the entire pickle?

Google The Pioneer Woman's Holiday Bacon Appetizers. I made these for the first time on Christmas Eve and they were delicious! Basically, you put a teaspoon of Parmesan cheese on a Club cracker and wrap it with a half a piece of bacon. Put on a rack on a baking sheet for two hours at 250 degrees. YUMMY!

You can leave them whole but the point is small appetizers on tooth picks. When I was pregnant I sure did eat them whole!!:rotfl2:

We always do appetizers and sparkling "champagne" on NYE. Neither DW or I are much of a drinker, so we just drink what the kids have. Rent about 3 movies from Redbox or Netflix Streaming and just get lazy.

DW makes a pickle wrap spread. She uses cream cheese, dried beef cut into tiny pieces and then adds relish to taste. We always use the Toasted Crackers (a much less crumbly cracker then Ritz, Townhouse or Club).

We also have homemade hand breaded chicken strips, little smokies in BBQ sauce, Mozzarella Sticks, taco roll ups, cheese and meat tray, Onion Rings, Buffalo Wings and potato skins are usually about all.

Here is our NYE picture from 2009...

So, get a whole deli-size dill pickle? This sounds good! I've never heard of this. Is it a regional "recipe" or did you make this up? Wow, I'm thinking of salami instead of ham...the possibilities are endless, LOL.

One of my most requested recipes is Texas Caviar. It is easy to make, can be made a day or two ahead of time, and it is really good. Plus, it is good luck to eat black eyed peas on the New Year.

Texas Caviar -

(amounts don't need to be exact, can add more or less of any item)
1 can pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
2 cans shoepeg corn (drained)
2 cans black eyed peas (drained and rinsed)
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped red pepper (can add other color of peppers too)
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 chopped jalapeno pepper (or 1 can of chopped green chilis)

Marinade
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 Tbsp. water

Add all marinade ingredients in a medium saucepan and heat to a full boil (stir often until sugar is melted). Let cool.

Mix other items in a large bowl. Once the marinade is cool, pour it over the top of the other items and mix together. Let set at least 2 - 4 hours, but it is best if it sets for 24 - 48 hours. Make sure to stir it occasionally as it sets to make sure it all gets mixed well.

Serve with tortilla chips

just heard of another i might try

Pinwheel with

Tortilla filled with a mixture of cream cheese and a little fruit preserve with turkey and baby spinich - rolled and refrigerated overnight then cut up..

I usually buy the spears or if I get the whole pickle I cut them in at least 1/2 lenghtwise.
