NYE Fantasmic and Fireworks Timing

We have a Blue Bayou Fantasmic dining package on NYE for the first Fantasmic show. We were hoping to get to the Blue Bayou viewing location at around 8:30, catch the 9pm NYE fireworks show from there, and then watch Fantasmic. However, I noticed on the nighttime entertainment calendar that Fantasmic starts at 9:05. Does that mean the NYE fireworks are only 5 mins long or do you have to ignore the fireworks in order to see the Fantasmic show? Just trying to decide if we'd be better off going to Fantasmic on New Year's Day instead of NYE.
