NYE at Universal or IoA?

Is there anything special? Is it incredibly crowded like MK? We are going for a short trip including a couple of days pre New Year's and a couple of days after. The couple of days after, we were going to save for Disney, as it is probably less crowded then the infamous period between Christmas and New Year's, so the few days before we were going to do Universal. How crowded will it be? What about New Year's Day itself, is there anything special? Thanks.

We were at Islands on New years eve...We left at around 6 because it was so crowded. We were supposed to stay late but decided to check in early at All star Music and head to Epcot...Islands of Adventure was nothing compared to Epcot that day.
