NYE at EPCOT

We showed up to Epcot around 6pm. We didn't plan on riding anything! Stopped by Club Cool for a drink, then spent 5 hours meandering through the countries... eating, drinking, dancing. It was SO MUCH FUN! Yes, the crowds were insane.... but the atmosphere and the fireworks made it TOTALLY worth it! Disney did a fantastic job of routing traffic out of the park. We hopped on the monorail back to the TTC (With no wait!) then waited about 15 minutes to get a resort monorail back to the Contemporary (We bumped into the unfathomable MK crowds!). I would do NYE at Epcot again, anytime!

First picture is from the dance party in the UK. Very "grown up friendly" dance music, and the live band even played!

This was AMAZING!! In Japan, they had a 'silent DJ'. If you look at the picture, you can see guests with headphones on. The DJ was playing dance tunes, but only the guests with the headphones could hear it. So as you walked by, you just saw people dancing like crazy, but you couldn't hear anything! We didn't take the time to wait to get into this dance area, but it was fun to watch!

Italy took the prize for the most INTENSE BASS (SUBWOOFERS!) The music was incredibly loud, and when the beat dropped, it rattled your soul!!

China's dance party was literally on fire! SO COOL!

Here is a link to my video of the NYE countdown/fireworks.https://www.facebook.com/susie.harloff/videos/vb.759290656/10156532305230657/?type=3&theater

If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, at least advance to the ending. RIDICULOUS!!! I was screaming like I was sitting in the front seat of Rock n Roller coaster!! So awesome!

Thanx very much to all who provided "tales of the evening" and especially the pics/videos. Looked like an incredible event!

Wow - thanx for the pics! At first I wondered what the red and green things were, then realized they were the "silent DJ earphones" - what a BRILLIANT idea that is!!

Great shots... Thanks as always for sharing, Ken! Maybe we'll make there one year....

I have done NYE at Epcot twice and I would do it again in a heartbeat! By far my FAVORITE place to spend NYE at WDW! The energy, entertainment, and atmosphere is incredible with all the DJ dance parties, lit up facades, and amazing firework countdown at midnight! And BTW, the second showing of Illuminations IS different than the first, the 6pm does NOT have the NYE countdown, it instead has the regular Holiday ending.

I figured we could all use some cheery photos after our snowfall today.

Some additional photos I took at EPCOT on NYE during the day and a few during a 6 pm showing of illuminations. It has been a number of years since I have stayed at EPCOT for illuminations because I am just too tired to stay up for it because I get to the parks early. There is one part of illuminations that chokes me up every time I see it and that’s when this woman sings in this sad sounding voice right before the big firework finale . . . I guess I am getting old . . . I get caught up in the intensity of the fireworks and the great timing and mood created by the music . . . I hate when Disney does that to me : - )

Gorgeous, as always, thanx for sharing. Is it age that turns us into sentimental old sots? I definitely find that with myself the last few years, for sure, and it's kind of embaressing! (or however you spell it) LOL
