Hello all.. my wife and I will heading to NYC city this weekend and I had a few questions

What is the best way to get from La Guardia to Manhattan (51st/8th) to be exact.. I have heard taxi and also the Q70 bus to the E train .. both are effective but obviously a huge cost difference

The other question is 51st/8- Columbus circle to yankee Stadium on Sunday.. a subway will be taken just not sure if any of the trains that go there do not run on sundays

Any help will be great! I am no stranger to NYC and fairly comfortable with their subway system but just thought I would ask here

Thanks!

Hello and I hope you enjoy our city.

I personally would take a cab to NYC from the airport. It just is so easy - especially at LaGuardia airport. That airport is always under construction. For Yankee Stadium the D or the B train leave out of 59th Street / Columbus Circle. So you have about an 8 block walk to the train (as I am sure you know in NYC is a quick walk). Just walk up 8th Ave from 51st street to 59th St. The D or the B train go right to Yankee stadium which is located on East 161st Street and River Avenue. The only difference is the schedule on trains on a Sunday is they run most local trains and the schedule is less trains then during the week. The trains do run. Although there could always be schedule changes. I would have an app on your phone or do a search before you leave for any service disruptions.

I hope that helps and enjoy your trip!

Thank you very much for the information!! We will probably end up taking a cab for the ease and not having to carry our luggage (we are only doing carry on) on the bus and train etc.. do you have an app you can recommend? Is it just a MTA app?

And yes we always enjoy your city!! It gives me goose bumps when I see the skyline flying in or walk up from the subway for the first time..We are coming down to celebrate our 10th anniversary and we timed it when the Blue Jays we in town so we could watch our home team (we live about 45 mins from Toronto)

I always take a taxi too/from la guardia, but I hear the bus to the subway isn't bad - but the subway is up a few flights of stairs and I'm not sure there's an elevator (or if there is, if it's actually in service).

If you are going to a yankees game - definitely take the subway, traffic will get VERY bad. The subway runs pretty much all the time, just with reduced hours at night. The subway will be very crowded going to / from a game though.

Ya we are planning on getting to the stadium late morning so we can get some food and a couple cheap beers before we have to pay stadium prices.. also want to see where the old stadium was and get in as soon as gates open to explore

Could you give me some more info on this?.. I am not familiar

Thank you!

The super shuttle is definitely less expensive but makes multiple stops and takes quite a bit of time. It’s $25/person so with two people you’ll pay just as much for a cab and save some time.

I used Lyft last time with no issue. $38 one way to 48th and 8th.

When I was going to Orlando last year with my kids, I took a cab from Grand Central to LGA. Yes, it was a little pricey, but it got me exactly where I needed to be.
I don't know if you've been to LGA recently, but it's all torn up with construction. Unless you are really familiar with the airport, I would pay for the convenience of just getting out and hailing a cab. If you are familiar with the subway system, you might want to do a hybrid; take a cab to the closest station on the line to your ultimate destination.

Well I am in NYC now.. knowing we had a lot time and nothing that we had to be at until 8pm (had Hamilton tickets) we opted for the cheap way .. $2.75 got us a 10 min bus ride on the Q70 to the Jackson Heights subway station.. free transfer to the E Train which we took to the 50th/8Ave station 1 block from the hotel..with bus/subway ride and minimal waiting maybe 45-60 mins total! It was actually really easy

Wasn't luggage a problem?
