NYC Thanksging Dinner reservation help

My wife & I will be in NYC for Thanksgiving this year. We thought about eating at the Central Park Boathouse, but we waited too long to get a reservation. Does any one have any recommendations for restaurants that might still have an opening?

you could try Tavern on the Green too.. I' sure these type restaurants are booked by now, but it's worth a try!

The Boathouse would have been fantastic, but a couple other "tourist pleasers" that I'd consider would be Metrazur in Grand Central Station or brunch at Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle. For non-touristy, but great, food, Cesca, on the Upper West Side is awesome. With all do respect to the previous poster, I wouldn't do Tavern except for maybe a cocktail while you walk through the park. The food's sub-par.

I have to echo Laugh in that Tavern on the Green is not a very good restaurant for good food. Because they cater more to the out-of-towner, they just don't care much about the return visitors, hence very few New Yorkers actually go there for a meal.

As for the website provided, that's a great place to start but be aware that you should call the restaurant before making the reservation. They won't necessarily be making a traditional T-giving meal.

Try posting on chowhound.com for recommendations.

Check out major full-service hotels like the Waldorf to see if they are having special Thanksgiving meals.

Now that I've read your question, I'm thinking that maybe my other half and I should do the same thing. I have to work on T-giving day as per usual and if I cook, I'm the one that does 99% of the menu. Might be nice to just relax for a change.

OP, if you are going to be there the day before Thanksgiving, think about going to BALLOON INFLATION!!!!!!!! It is just so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry - had to run to school.

We're going across the river to Water's Edge. I'd seen it mentioned in a few articles for Turkey Day in NYC, & it has Traditional Thanksgiving options.
