I promised a few people I'd start this report going for our upcoming trip to NYC.

Tonight we are packing up suitcases, charging up DVDs, gameboys, cameras, etc...

The trip will consist of my entire family (Self, Wife, 3 kids ages 10, 8 and 4 and my Mother in law)

We head to Detroit tomorrow to catch a 10am flight.

I'll try to post updates and photos each night of our quick four night trip.

Those on Facebook, I'm sure I'll be posting pics and updates frequently.

I'm in Don. I've spent a total of 2 days in NYC (on separate trips), and never spent overnight in the city. Both were day trips quickly in and out of the city. I was able to catch the Letterman show once though. I can't wait to read about your trip.

Enjoy it. My first trip there was last week and I absolutely loved the place:)

:goodvibes

I am looking forward to it. Have a great time in NYC. What type of activities do you have planned?

I fear we have more activities than we will ever have time to accomplish!

However, I'll give you a brief rundown of the schedule.

Arrive tomorrow afternoon and check-in at the Doubletree in Times Square.

The boys (10 and 8) and I have booked "A Night at the Museum". We are spending the night in the Museum of Natural History. No plans between arrival and heading to the Museum. The girls will shop I'm guessing.

Saturday, No major plans other than Central Park and shopping. We want to enjoy the city on the weekend, hit some attrations like Top of the Rock, Central Park Zoo, FAO Schwartz etc...

Sunday we are going to see Shrek the Musical at 3pm and then Dinner with some DIS'ers (Andrea) at Tony DiNapolis.

Monday we are doing the Statue of Liberty Cruise and the Intrepid. Pick up on some more shopping or central park.

Tues we head home, but have time in the morning to hit any last minute fun things we missed.

I had no idea you could do that! That sounds very, very cool! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear how it goes for you. Travel safely.

You have some great things planned. Be sure to look up at the ceiling of the elevator car when you do the Top of the Rock.

Don't forget a trip to the Disney Store in NYC. :)

I can't wait to read your reports.

Sounds like a full plate Don. Enjoy. :goodvibes

Depending on where your cruise leaves from on Monday, the Seaport Harbor can be fun. The Disney Store there is great! Serendipity is a great place to take the family for ice cream. Carriage ride in Central Park and the Pond.

You leave the day I arrive in NYC. I'll look for you in the airport.

Your Stalker

Hope y'all have a great trip!!! I will be following along with bells on. :woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

Several of my students did the Night at the Museum last year as a birthday party. They got shirts and had an absolute blast. Have a great time.

Don

A long weekend trip to New York has been on my list for a while. Your plans sound like a lot of fun

Hope you have a terrific time. I love NYC and get to visit 5 or 6 times a year. My daughter is a dancer in the City and I can get there in 3 or 4 hours by train from my office so I visit her whenever I can. All of the things you have planned are terrific. I love the view from the Top of The Rock - much more so than the Empire State Building. The Central Park Zoo, while small is really nice - and it's right there in Central Park (I love the penguins and the sea lion show). Sounds like you have built in time to just enjoy being there. I think too often people plan too much and miss out on some of the little things.

I'll definitely read your trip reports. I love hearing about other poeple's experiences there.

Your plans sound great, Don. Are you cruising around the Statue of Liberty or also getting off at Liberty Island? The Crown is open now, but I understand it's pretty hard to get tickets for that unless you book way in advance.

Have a wonderful trip!

WOW! Those sound like my kind of plans!! Do you have room in your suitcase for one more?

Have a GREAT time!! Looking forward to reading all about it ;)

I'm in too! You are going to have an INCREDIBLE time. I live right outside of NYC and know the city like the back of my hand. If you have any questions at all, feel free to PM me. I can help!

I have taken my little cousins to the Night at the Museum and it is AMAZING, a very singular experience you can not have anywhere else. the museum is incredible under normal circumstances, but when you get to sleep under the whale and have the place to yourself.. it's magical. I found it very Disney. They really do a nice job of making sure it's a great experience for everyone. Have an amazing time!

PS.. If you are looking for great, authentic, Italian food, Angelo's on Mulberry St in Little Italy is (in my opinion) the best I have ever had. It's quite expensive but if you want that perfect, authentic Little Italy experience, it is exactly what you need! :)

Wow, you can get to NYC from Rochester in 3 to 4 hours by train? Everytime I look it's about 6-7 hours. What train do you take Elaine?

Have a great time buddy. I work in the city so do NOT...I repeat...do NOT embarass me while you're there! Hi Tamra. :goodvibes
